No Columbus doesn’t. Strome is an average center who needs a high end player to carry him. Columbus doesn’t have a Kane or DeBrincat type player to do that.

I don't think Seabrook would waive for Ottawa, and I don't think that's nearly enough to convince them to bite on that deal even if it's in exchange for Zaitsev's. Nikita Zaitsev's is bad but it's doable and something that could be handled or traded with a bit of management or retaining; he's probably only about $2M overpaid. Seabrook's is awful though in that he's like $4-5M overpaid, so there's no way to just handle that. Additionally, he still makes a lot of real money so there's no appealing structure for Melnyk. I think there's something that could maybe be done, but that's not enough for it.

That's what I originally thought. If I were to revise it I would instead throw in someone like Beaduin and maybe some salary retention. For Melnyk the appeal could be bringing in someone who actually wants to play somewhere and maybe that brings with some good publicity for a team that definitely needs its, also Seabrook has winning experience and can teach that to the young core. Again a reach but thanks for the input
