Do the Leafs sign Rodrigues

Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2020
Published: Aug. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rodrigues has a 2 million dollar QO, and coming off a poor season there's no way the Leafs qualify him, but he is a Toronto kid and if he has interest in signing in Toronto will the Leafs sign him for cheaper? He's a solid defensive bottom 6 centre who can fill in on the 3rd line in case of an injury and is a pretty big upgrade from Gauthier

Leafs do have engvall but if he’s willing to sign 700k-1m I think they may.

Don’t give him a QO than resign him when free agency starts.
He’s one of those players that has great analytics, but isn’t a very good player.

I loved him when he played for the Sabres, except his last season where I think Kreuger's slower style really frustrated him

He's not worth 2m, though. If you can get him for under 1m, I'd say do it. Good wheels, tons of energy, above average hands/passing for a bottom 6'er. No shot though.

He's a hometown kid coming off an awful season, I would imagine they do not qualify him, and then work out a show-me 1-year deal worth under $1 million dollars. He's not worth $2 million, let alone anything over $1 million, in my opinion. I mean, there may be a better deal out there for him, if he's not qualified, but I don't see any team giving him over $1.5 million on a a very short-term deal.

He is headed to the Marlies. Leafs opening up cap space for some more significant moves.
