thanks for the generous offer. However, I'm very skeptical Getzlaf will ever be traded or want to go to WSH.

Face of the franchise for a bottom pairing defenseman, a current top 4 AHL defenseman and a low 2021 1st round pick. And pay half of his salary. Sold! cheers

I agree but its only one year and majority of the silly users on this site offer seconds. But we won't this year at all. I bet he is more untouchable then Gibson base on the fact he so close to 1000 pts and will not waive for most teams.

Love Brodin and the 3rd line upgrades but man Getzlaf is a real downgrade at center.

Experienced "placeholder" in a sense until McMichael gets ready for that position.

The way I read this it's Brodin, Donato and the 1st for Kuzy. Dubnyk for Panik.

Given that we'd be getting Kuznetsov back in the trade, it make sense for us swap out Dubnyk for Staal in this instance.

Staal for Panik and one of Protas/Alexeyev.

Additionally we throw in Stalock for Damien Riat and and Washington's 21' 2nd

You gain more cap for greater flexibility with your roster, then use it to snag Rakell instead of Getzlaf. You give up less that way as well. Drop the leafs deal as that's no longer necessary, slot Donato into his normal LW position now opposite Rakell or Oshie.

Move Jensen for prospects or picks.

Viola.

Cheaper and more lethal with better goaltending.

Interesting alternative route. Certainly one way to do it.

Nice to see someone thinking about a Wild move. Kuzy for a top four D-men and one of their two first round picks is the base of it. Unless Wild choose to keep 8 skaters instead of 3D/7F in the Expansion draft, they need to make a deal so they'll not lose one of the top four defensemen for nothing. Also, from the Wild POV, Kuzy will be good for his countrymen Kaprizov as he enters the league. As a Caps fan, I'm fine with Dubnyk as an experienced back-up for maximum of one season, giving Vanecek more seasoning for a while. (Though Vanecek's one-way part of the contract kicks in next season.)
