I don’t understand what Colorado’s incentive is to add $7M to their 4th line.

Cizikas' contract expires and he's a great 4th line center. Probably best in the league. Although I don't think they would also want Cal even though he is a great PKer. Not sure what COL needs are but if it's physicality then this would be a move in that direction

No need to trade casey for basically nothing when you have the cap to keep him on the roster. Also you can get at least a 3rd round pick for Leddy.

True. But in the scenario presented isn’t it far fetched to think that Pulock is signing for only $6M/6years? At 25 he’s going to sign a worse contract than Boychuk was offered when he was 31?

To me it looks Barzal & Toews are undervalued as well. I think the point of this thread was to illustrate a cap dump to sign the three. It’s just the wrong players to dump to the wrong team.

LMAO what is that COL trade? lol

Two cap dumps totaling 6.85 mil with combined 21 pts production in exchange for swapping 3rds?
WTF is the logic here? @islesadist

Boychuk was a UFA and a top pairing defenseman at the time, although he was overpaid. Josh Morrissey signed for 6.25 x 8 and he’s a legitimate top pairing D. Pulock likely signs for 6 mill but for 5 years so he has another opportunity to sign another 5-7 year deal after this one is up.

Barzal won’t get much more than 7 mill on a 3 year bridge , just look at what his comparables got.

Toews probably gets a little more for 4 years, 4.25 x 4.

the difference with Pulock and Boychuk is the RFA vs UFA and isles have plenty of young D while boychuk was being signed mainly for the stanley cup champ on the team. There will be cap dumps, Leddy for sure but after that who knows

Cizikas is definitely not a cap dump, he’s a very good player that the islanders don’t want to give up. Clutterbuck is the cap dump and Cizikas is the asset that makes it worth it

I doubt there’s room to resign Martin and it’s going to be tough to resign Cizikas in 2021 with Pelech and beau needing deals. Seems inevitable

That's a good point. I guess if the line is going to break apart anyways we might as well get something back
