I think Slater will sign a Mayfield type deal. Even longer term, but maybe even less money. He's certainly earned another contract in my mind, but he's also been through the ringer when it comes to knowing how bad things can go. He had a number of injuries very early in his career and then was sidelined in Tampa because their defense was just soo stacked. He knows what it's like to be a constant healthy scratch. I think you can sign him for 3 years $1.25 or even 4 years. That's a lot of security in someone's life, knowing you'll make $~5M playing a sport.

Not a huge fan of the TOR trade. We can't take the retention. I doubt Murray will sign that cheap. I don't even know if he'd sign for double this...for another team. Maybe he signs for $4.5 - $5M for PIT...maybe

don't see that for the Leafs.

Alex Nylander is probably not good enough to play on the top 9 in Toronto and he does not have the skillset for a bottom 3 role.

And Murph is not worth that much to the Leafs

that first aint moving unless they can package it for another Muzzin type defender. Murphy is not that, and Nylander doesnt move the needle further towards that goal

for Murray. i figure he had a rough year. pitt is not trading from a place of strength. gave him 2 years to prove himself, then he can cash in.

slater is a weird one. he is great for his roll, but also replaceable. i wouldnt want to commit to a 5-7th dman for that long. i get your point though.

the toronto one i think a great idea for toronto. Murphy may not sound like a great player, but he was on against McDavid or draisaitl the whole series, and was solid. i think thats a great fit for toronto especially at that cap hit. nylander is to replace whoever they would of picked. prospect, but no promises.
