Well that sure does seem like a regrettable deal for the preds...tears of joy

That's not a remotely realistic offer for Ekholm.

What did you expect?
-Some Leaf fans literally believe Nylander gets you Parayko
-some believe that Nylander gets you McAvoy
-some believe Bracco gets Georgiev
-some believe the above package gets you Pesce...

A certain Jack will probably come out and say that «EkHoLm Is OvErRaTeD» because of some BS analytic

Uh? That's very inaccurate, TOR would get a pick around 6OA (or its equivalent) if they decided to move on from him

Any pick early in the 1st round, you hope you get a solid player and potentially a star. If you get a top line player it's a win. Usually you are hoping to get a valuable NHL player. If you get a guy who turns into a potential 40 goal scoring 80+ point player that is a home run. Nylander is a home run. I wouldn't move him for just a 1st round pick, you would be lucky to get an equal player with that pick.

Lol Willy needed JT/AM to play at a PPG game pace.

Remove them and he's the consistent 25-30 G, 70pts a season, no more no less.

A few forwards drafted around 6OA through the years
2003:Vanek
2004:Wheeler
2006:Backstrom
2007:Voracek
2009:Schenn and Naz
2010:Skinner
2013:Lindholm and Monahan
2014:Willy himself, at 8th
2015:Marner was 4th
2016:Tkachuk
2017:EP
2018: too soon to tell, we could revisit that in one year

So saying that the TML would be lucky to get a guy of Willy's caliber is WRONG. EP, Tkachuk, Backstrom and Wheeler are better than him... you could make a case than Lindholm is too.

Now, there are worse players than Willy on my list (Skinner who's inconsistent as hell, Schenn who's ideally a 2nd liner...) but the point stands. Value wise, you trade Willy for a pick around 5-6-7 OA or it equivalent... choose an option

And there have been just as many guys who didn't amount to much. It's not like Nylander is 29 and leaving his prime, he is just entering it, look at what Huberdeau did prior to his breakout season. Nylander had better numbers. As to your he needs Matthews or JT to be effective. That is 100% totally bull****. He creates offensive chances at an elite rate. He has since he entered the league regardless of who he has played with. He definitely needs finishers with him to increase his effectiveness but there are very few playmakers who can make anyone into a scorer. Saddle Marner with Marleau and Brown and he doesn't get many points.

Well I mean your example of Marleau and Brown isn't good because none of them are natural centers, so let's put MM with Brown and Kerfoot

Marner would get 15 goals and 35 assists, mark my words.

Willy would get 20 ish goals and 40 pts. Like he can't drive his own line, it's a bit like JT Miller IMO, he needs an elite center to play like an elite player

Also did you noticed that what boosted WIlly's overall impact was when Keefe decided to put him on a line with JT?

Ekholm is not who the leafs need. He is good but we need a RD. Dubas made the call to other teams saying u got an impact player like muzzin but a RD we can discuss a deal. The 1st round is deep and while I would prefer to Draft Braden Schneider if the Blues or another team offered Parayko for the first and a package i would also be open to that

But why on earth would you make the move for a guy who may not be as good as Willy? That is just stupid.

If I had to move him (and that's still an «if» at this point in time) I'd move him for a combination of picks and a d-man who can play 20-22 minutes (or more who knows) night it night out

-that what has boosted WIlly's performances through the years is playing with either AM or JT. Simple as that in this case

Except you ignore the offensive chance generation Nylander has generated no matter who he has played with. Because your opinion is your evidence and your opinion is bull****

Hahahaha it’s so funny to see you trying to rationalize your point by saying that he creates chances at an elite pace yet when he doesn't play with AM/JT he’s the average 1st line guy, not an elite one

He hasn't really had much time away from the top 6, because he is also a top 6 player. Not sure what you are even getting at. He was on a nearly 40 goal pace and almost a point a game after Keefe arrived. He drives play and is a possession machine. But you clearly don't like him because you are one of those "grit is everything guys". I bet you also say stuff like "they are taking our jobs" and "Trudeau is a traitor". Classic cement head pining for the good old days. Just become a Caps fan and then argue about how awesome Wilson is for his 30-40 points and 3 suspensions a year.

-not sure what I'm even gettign at? What I'm getting at is that he isn't the best invention since sliced bread. He isn't the superstar everyone seems to want him to be. I like to compare him to a guy like David Krejci/Pacioretty Not a team leader however a perfect secondary option behind your elite guys.
-what does a Leafs fan do when he doesn't have a proper argument? «Possesion(offense) is everything and grit is useless». Isn't it weird how MTL and CLB shut down two of the league's best F cores using simple defensive systems? Isn't it weird how when the TML's talent doesn't do anything they have nothing, because their D SUCKS, they have little to no work ethic and Dubas has traded/let go almost everyone who has an inch of grit (Komarov (that was fine, his NYI deal is awful), Martin (Leaf fans keep saying that his AAV was a problem but who created this problem in the first place? Oh yeah that's right, Dubas), Brown and Kadri (to get an offensive d-man who did nothing for TOR).

@PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood might be the most delusional person on this site. Everything he says never comes to fruition and acts like a little b*tch when someone disagrees with him
