Why would the rangers trade for Andersen?

i like the idea of georgiev if we move Andersen but Andersen would probably get traded for picks and then pick trades for Gergiev. NYR is trying to move goalies not get more.

Kapanen just got that 1st round pick for you, and Arvidsson >> Kapanen, so it's gonna take more than that to get both Ellis and Arvidsson. And Jarnkrok is better than all of the other players involved. So NSH gives up the best player in Ellis (arguments can be made for Nylander, but I think Ellis is currently the better player in a more difficult position to fill) and the 3rd and 4th best players in Arvidsson and Jarnkrok. This is an underpay by TOR. NSH declines.

yes but remember pittsburgh overpaid to get him. Just because Kapenan got a 1st does not mean others will. The pittsburgh gm was willing to spend to get kapenan and didnt care if the top 15 pick was going. Friedman said that in his interview. Basically just because one team heavily overpaid to get a wing dont expect others to do so

i say to make the deal more fair toronto should do the following

Remove brooks, add Holl and either another pick or liligren, Nashville get 2 rhd to replace ellis, a depth wing, a top 6 wing, and a top 15 1st round pick

I agree that GMJR overpaid, but that's going to be Poile's argument when that pick is used to try to get Arvidsson. It's just not enough. And I guarantee you that Arvidsson is one of Poile's most highly valued forwards -- so it will take a lot to pry him out of NSH.

It's not like Ellis and Arvidsson are as expendable to NSH as Kapanen was to TOR though. If the Leafs want two core players NSH doesn't want to lose, it's going to come at a steep price.

yeah i agree thats why i made the suggestion where toronto sends Holl + Liligren. Nashville get 2 RHD one of which is 21 and has the potential to possibly become as big as ellis.

If you somehow pull off that Cernak offersheet, the rest of this can be avoided, no point in shrinking our window by trading 23 yo for 29 yo with injury histories (as much as like Ellis).

Adding Cernak is enough of an upgrade to our D with Sandin and Liljegren on the way, tinker with the forward group and you are laughing!

Tinker with the forward group all you like. Thing is Dubas already said that Nylander, Matthews, and Marner are off the table and JT has a full NTC he would never wave. The point in getting that NTC was because he was going after his dream of playing for the Leafs. Also he's right IMO.

By tinkering I meant around the edges. I highly doubt any of the big 4 are dealt. And i wouldn't want any of them dealt. Top 4 can be improved other ways.

Well, apparently the Athletic got confirmation from other teams that the players in play are Andersen, Johnsson, Kerfoot, and Engvall. The Leafs are interested in offers for all of those players. It's James Mirtle and since it's from sources on other teams it's actual rumour not just some guy and fairly reliable/still a grain of salt but not the whole shaker.
edit: should be any of/all of those players. I realised after it sounded like all moved at once.

Unless a decent 3C comes back somehow, I'm hoping they give Kerfoot another shot. With Robertson ready AJ is expendable, but they are selling low on him if he moves. I like Engvall, but I agree with the article, he's overpriced for what he brings.

Andersen will be the wild card this summer, and him moving will really depend on what else happens on the goalie market, IMO. If Leafs can save some $$ in the crease, then a lot of options are on the table as far as improving the Top 4.

A decent 3c would have to either be part of the deal or they would have to have one signed. Dubas said that was a sticking part of the Kapanen deal. Had to have a serviceable winger to replace him. He said that will be part of any deal. I think they would let Johnsson go because it's not like they don't have someone for that position.
