Finding Someone for Burns V2

Created by: Waffelz
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2020
Published: Aug. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Another idea for moving Burns. Left room in the cap for underpaid contracts or retaining more of Burns' contract. Right Wing is a little weak, but a much more complete team than the year before. Very capable left wing, and a reasonable Center group as well. Moving Burns lets the blue line focus more on defense, and bringing Braun in should help Vlasic a lot. Getting a cheap, effective goalie makes all of this possible, it all hinges on getting Alex Stalock without paying too much. Picking up Greiss or someone similar for around $3m could also be possible.

The hard part is moving Vlasic.... I feel that won’t happen for a few years when his contract isn’t long.

Vlasic isn't going anywhere. His contract isn't attractive, he's over 30, he has a full NMC, and he loves San Jose. I think he's got some good hockey in him still. Burns, on the other hand, has a modified NTC, so he has to waive for at least a few teams. If he doesn't get traded in this off-season, I 100% expect him to be exposed in the expansion draft next year.

Wouldn't say no to Tristan Jarry, but there is no way the Pens can take on a contract anywhere near Burns at this point.
