Description
Listen, I'm no brain genius. To demonstrate that, I spent a couple hours thinking through this trade/acquisition post and when I went to post it I realized I needed an account to post here and lost everything I'd typed. So yeah, not the sharpest puck on the ice. Mostly I just want to see if any of these moves make even a kernel of sense.

I'll rewrite up a condensed version:

1st off, I'm operating under the assumption that Brian Little either retires or goes on LTIR, but really who knows what is going to happen there. I reckon holding on to DeMelo, even though the playoff qualifiers left a poor taste in peoples mouths. I think he did well for us in the season and was an important part of why our penalty kill improved so much. Unless a team is going to overpay him elsewhere, I reckon we could hold on to Brossoit as well without needing to to give him much more. I dont think there's anything too wild about either of those moves.

Here's where things go a bit off the rails. It's a pipe dream, but I would love to see the Jets go after Torey Krug in free agency. Though I'm assuming that we would need to spend extra to bring him up here.

I suspect what will draw more ire here is making a move for Domi. It seems to me that most Jets fans want to go after Anthony Cirelli, but I think he's going to be a hot commodity around the league and I'm not sure that the Jets would be will come out on top of that fight for him. Instead I think we might be able to swing Domi. I get that it's a risky move as he's hardly a guaranteed 2C. but I think there's enough of a chance that he could step into the role and thrive for it to be worth pursuing. Losing Lowry and Heinola would suck, but I reckon they both are valuable trade pieces and I'm not sure that we'd be able to re-sign Lowry next year anyways. The trade feels like an overpay to me, which makes me think it might be fair.

I dunno if Roslovic is going to be able to reach his potential while on the Jets, and I think he might realize that as well. As such I'd rather move him while we still have him under RFA than retain him in the hope the hope that his value might increase. This is really a shot in the dark trade, so I have no idea if this is anywhere close to fair.

so yeah, just gonna kinda throw this at the wall and see if anything sticks. Lemme know if I'm on to anything at all.

I think Calgary is very happy with keeping Dube right now. Kid proved he's a very solid NHLer

Krug is never signing in Winnipeg.

That defense is too small.

I'm down for the Habs trade but I know others will hate it, I'd try to squeeze the Blues 2nd from Montreal if possible.

Idk about the Roslovic trade, feels like a loss for the Jets to me.

yeah, like I said, it's a pretty big pipe dream. I'll be shocked if he doesnt just stay in Boston

also in regards to Dube, that's totally fair. I floated a couple ideas in my head for who we would trade him for and I figured it was worth a shot.

You are better off going for Piet than Krug IMO. Habs can get better offers likely as well. Flames trade is odd, Dube is pretty close to being untouchable atm (you guys should know first hand) but I still think Roslovic is very promising too

Winnipeg shouldn't be going after Krug as that's too much money for what he brings and that is a huge overpayment for Domi. No way the Jets should move Heinola for him. That would be a homerun trade for Montreal.

I think Calgary would just keep Dube, he looked good for them in the playoffs, they might as well see if he can keep it up.

I agree MTL win this transaction but not far from reality. Mete or Kulak should be part of the trade

Both Pietrangelo and Krug are never ever signing in Winnipeg, I'm sure the Jets will try hard to sign DeMelo which is very meh imo. The Jets are in a really bad spot with their crappy D, useless bottom 6 and their major hole at 2C with Little very likely finished unfortunately.

Yeah Roslovic has the tools, took some strides this season but Maurice hates him I think unfortunately.

What do you think about moving someone like Connor to fill one of those holes?

Are you asking me? lol

Depends if it's worth it or not obviously, wary to trade one of the young wingers buy ya gotta give to get and can't just wait for draft picks to develop, to trade Connor to fill one of the holes they have whatever coming back would have to have a lot of term or could be signed to like a 6 year deal for it to be worth it, like for Pulock I'd do it if he could be extended long term but the Islanders aren't letting him go even though they're in a serious cap crunch, they'll find a way to keep him.

I just keep looking at this D core and thinking it's way too small and there's no quick or simple way to fix it, they need major additions on the back end if they want to compete next season, hopefully Chevy can snag a good deal or two or three from some teams in a cap crunch but I'm not hopeful given his track record.

Dube was legit awesome in the playoffs. Maybe replace him with Bennet? I don't know...I like Bennet's sand paper and he was a highly touted prospect out of the draft. Change of scenery and all those clichés
Don't like that Domi deal. Maybe replace Heinola with Stanley or Veslainen

MTL actually has a nice LD prospect pool in Romanov, Norlinder, Harris & Struble. Ofc Heinola would be great, but Vesalainen would fill a hole at LW pool too.

It could look like Domi for 1st 2020+Lowry+Vesalainen. Similar to Kapenen deal for a player with higher ceiling
