At first glance I thought what a HUGE overpay for Domi. Then I thought about it for a minute and broke it down like this.

Avs 2021 1st has less value than the 2020 1st cause of a weaker draft. Plus it will likely be a late pick as well which lowers it's value further to almost a 2nd round pick.

Kaut is a B prospect and a 7th barely has any value.

For those reasons the deal isn't as bad as it was at first glance. Maybe still a slight overpay but bot likely enough of one to nix the deal.

Kaut isn’t a B prospect he was drafted 16th overall is 20, and while his game isn’t sexy he is a guy that thrives being the guy that does the dirty work playing with skill guys. He cemented his place on the Avs late but the Avs desire to get 3 full NHL years in the NHL on his elc and COVID killed that. Imo the Avs don’t want to move because of those qualities.

Domi is only going to be moved if the right trade comes along and he refuses to play wing the way he plays center. We do not have to move him and only would for whatever MB sets his price at which will probably be something similar to this.

Well he certainly isn't an A prospect. Not on the same level as Newhook or Byram so then you must be saying he is a C prospect which means that this is better for the Avs

C’mon Byram and Newhook are elite NHL prospects, they are at a whole another level. Call them A+. But a guy that was drafted 16 overall is 20 and shown he is an NHL isn’t a B prospect just because you have 2 elite guys.

He is below both Timmins and Beaucage as well so seriously not an A prospect not even A-. Seriously the guys point totals in the AHL are 26 in 63 games in 18-19 and 18 points in 34 games in 19-20! Those are not A prospect levels. I mean AJ Greer and Logan O'Connor both had higher point totals in the same number of games does that make them A+ prospects too like Newhook and Byram? No it doesn't and Kaut is still only a B prospect! A good middle 6 winger ceiling at the NHL level.

Not Beaucage. Beaucage gets a lot of love here, kid has an nhl shot but his skating is a bit wonky to say the least. Avs prospects are like this in order.
Elite-Byram and Newhook
What I would call A guaranteed NHL players Timmins, Kaut, Bowers and Annunen.
B prospects guys who have a solid shot - Ranta, Helleson, Werner, Kovalenko, Little Z, Mutula, Beaucage, Burzan, Steinburg
Those top 6 are pretty much a total consensus in the Avs world. Ranta literally below the neck is an A prospect it’s all about his hockey iq. Helleson is a big mobile d. Werner has already played in the NHL. Kovalenko and little Z are playing in the KHL already as 20 yr olds. Mutula is a 200ft player that does everything but plays on such an awful junior team he has some question marks. Beaucage see above. Burzan can skate and has potential as a bottom 6 guy. And Steinburg is a wild card power forward who has to show some development.

Kaut is not below Beaucage, the only people who seem to value Beaucage are the homer french canadian fans because Beaucage is from Quebec and plays in the Q. no joke
