I suppose I respectfully disagree, especially if the reports of a desire to remake the core in Calgary is true (this trade is based on that premise, so if you are here to tell me the rumors aren't true then just ignore the AGM). Reinhart is younger than Monahan (not by much), had a better season than monahan and has 2 more RFA years. Reinhart plus 2nd round pick for Monahan.
Montour replaces Brodie at RHD and despite his struggles playing his off hand with ristolainen as his partner, he had simliar 82 game pace stats to hanifin and they are losing 2 RHD likely. i add mittelstadt who while off to a bit of a rough start, still has value as a young center with skill.
Except Reinhart is a RW and Monahan is a C.
Centers are always worth more, especially when the center in question here has scored 20g every season since joining the NHL.
Reinhart had 1 better season than Monahan over their careers... and you're going to use that as a sticking point? lol that's not how it works.
Mittelstadt had a good pedegree in his draft year, but since then has faltered in Buffalo showing no signs of being anything dominant or skill wise.
He's now draft year +3 putting up a career high 25pts in 77 games in 2018.
Demoted to the AHL this year after a measly 9pts in 31 games.
He's not worth anything close to what you think he is "rough start" or not, his stock has dropped the last 3 years.
Hanifin > Montour (age + contract cost & length taken into consideration)
Monahan > Reinhart
If Calgary is giving this up then the pick needs to be #8 not a 2nd round.
