Bonuses... Aren't signing bonuses usually paid 7/1? Were 20-21 bonuses paid 7/1 even though we are still under 19-20 season? RFAs and UFAs are still active even though their contracts technically expired.

Example being Kapanen. He has a $1,000,000 signing bonus for 20-21. Did Toronto already pay that?

I'm assuming they were all paid on July 1st, since there's no reason they wouldn't, other than escrow. But if the signing bonus is big enough compared to the contract they should still be able to get part of it.

The way the CBA reads, contracts and bonuses are paid out based on the "League Year", which they define as July 1st - June 30th.

Since COVID delayed the season and the CBA needed to be redrawn in order to account for the playoffs starting past what would've been the 20/21 league year, I believe they don't get paid out until the 20/21 league year comes into effect, which would be the first day unrestricted free agents can sign with other clubs.
