I'm going to tell you sabres wouldn't do this. Although , our ex-GM & who knows new GM might have no idea (scratch that, have no idea) what they are doing. If the GM was smart they wouldn't do this trade. Laughton is at best a 3rd line LW. He is only 25 but the sabres need centers. We wouldn't use one of our only trade pieces for a 3rd line LW. We would most likely target Josh Anderson, Andrew Copp, Yanni Gourde, etc...

Laughton is a C, who plays all 3 positions, he has good metrics, good on faceoffs, (hes on the wing in playoffs due to inclusion of Thompson and grant)

You are right but his performance as a LW in playoffs are much better then at C. He does have great shooting metrics but I would value him more of 3rd line center then a 2nd. I have hard time seeing Philly wanting to part with a young developing C/LW. He does score on a good amount of shots taken but offensively & defensively his metrics are all over. It's hard to grasp what you're getting for the future since his numbers last year & this year are different & his metrics have increased with a change in position.

Ovechkin fan - Ovy signed a picture for him pre-game early in his career - awkward story.

But he was Flyers fan as kid

I would love Laughton he can take the 2c spot until cozens is ready for it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Laughton is a 2C, but he is a young and solid 3C, who can play all three positions. For PHI, its the acquisition of a young RD, who they might be able to "fix", and he could go up from third pairing when Niskanen goes UFA.

A third line center is easier to replace in Philly than a RD. Philly should have Frost and Patrick next year behind Coots and Hayes (not to mention Giroux), so Laughton, while young and valuable is a good trade asset to get RD.

For BUF they get a young, hard working, gritty, two-way 3C or LW who can be a leader and help the team as they build.
