Seeing if Hall can work without a cap increase

Created by: Treize131
Team: 2020-21 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 27, 2020
Published: Aug. 27, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think I'm being entirely too optimistic around what Hall is going to want from a team in terms of a new contract. AND I'm assuming that he rejects all efforts from Arizona to resign...I imagine they'll do all they can given their draft pick situation.

The lowest georgiev can possibly get is about double what you just paid him

Georgiev can get more than that. That's also pretty low for Hall even as a hometown discount. I don't think he's worth double digits, but some idiot GM out there is going to do it. I'd let Gustafsson and Forbort walk, dump Ryan with a pick included, and use that remaining money to give Hall and Georgiev raises and fill out the rest of the roster.

It will fit but you will be in trouble as the Cap would stay for the next 3 years at that level... so that's mean you will need to sell low on Johnny Hockey next year.. without adressing your Goalie situation with 3M total available

I was thinking about that; we did look a little thin without those guys but it could work.

Yeah, as much as I want it to happen I really don't see it working or being a good move for the Flames in the long term.

It's hard to assess Bennett's trade value when he's a 4th line center for the style of play during the regular season, but a 1st or 2nd line center when the style of play switches to playoff hockey.

Rangers might ask for a 3rd round pick or a prospect or player with the trade value of a 3rd round pick. Personally I love Bennett and would probably make the trade, but I'd first ask for a 3rd round pick or it's equivalent player or prospect.

I think that's 100% fair. If this kind of trade were to happen it would certainly need finessing considering the body of work for Georgiev is relatively small and Bennett is a bit of an enigma.
