I think Devils pass on that unless they can move Subban, but value-wise seems somewhat fair. (And just a heads up, it's the 2020 2nd round pick instead of 2021)

Why - these are a ton of assets to give up for a stagnant 29 year old defensman with an >$8M cap hit until he's 36. The Devils could get both Hanifan and Dunn (or similar) with the assets in this trade.

The Devils have too many gaps on defense to go out and get a Severson upgrade. At the moment, OEL does absolutely nothing for this team.

I think Leafs would get outbid for Crouse.

I also think both ARI and NJD are better off around a deal for Chychrun.

Ty Emberson strikes me as a guy that a smart team would move picks for (anyone who has watched Wisconsin play who agree there isn't that big of a gap between him and his d-partner, K'Andre Miller).
