I mean Dermott coming back could fill that hole. Most people who think he's going to stay here have him pencilled in as Rielly's partner on the right side. Plus the Kings are in a rebuild, they could use Dermott as a top-4 right-sided defender in the short term, take advantage of the pick, and shift him to the bottom pair LHD if he hangs around long enough for the next era of contention.
The Kings have a logjam at 3LHD, with MacDermid, Clague, Hults, and Brickley all looking to make the jump in the next season or two. Dermott isn't a significant upgrade over any one of those guys.
The Kings are certainly willing to unload spare parts to bring in draft picks, but Walker and Roy not spare parts. They're necessary players in this defense right now, and trading either one would necessitate them finding someone else to fill that spot. Both are young enough to where they could be long-term staples on this team. A 2nd round pick just isn't enough to lose them.
If Durzi or Spence improve significantly over the next season or two, then Walker could become expendable and then a trade like this would be explored. Realistically, both of those guys are 3-4 years away from being NHL ready, so I don't see that happening.
I just can't see the Kings going for this deal. I'm not saying it's not fair value, it just doesn't make sense for the Kings to do it.
