Description
RHD is the Flyers biggest need and they address that here as well as clearing up some cap space to resign current RFAs and same UFAs. Yeah it might stink to give up Frost but center is a position that this team is pretty set at for the next few years so it would be hard for him to crack the line up since the organization seems to view him as a top 6 center and nothing else really. I signed Myers long term because I really think he's going to turn into a stud. He's shown spurts of it during the playoffs and the more experience he gets and the older he gets the better he will be, signing him long term I believe will save the Flyers money in the long term and I think that's a fairly reasonable contract for him. With expansion looming and having 4 good defenders it makes it a little more difficult to manage but I believe that it will look something like the following;
7-3-1
F: Giroux, Hayes, Couturier, Konecny, Patrick, Lindblom, Aube-Kubel
D: Provorov, Myers, Sanheim
G: Hart
They'll have to make a trade to make sure that Dumba isn't selected, probably something like a bottom 6 forward or Hagg and a pick, and I think Jake's contract might be protection on its own and if he does get selected that's more cap space to use.

Wild probably try to squeeze more out but ultimately I think they say yes.

I think its a pretty decent trade. Philly gets a top 4 RHD that can play top pair if it doesn't work with Myers and Minnesota get a young player who they can slot into 2C, a good power play specialist, and a first hits on everything both teams need with out hurting either team too much

I think Laughton is protected over NAK, he's been fantastic this year. Also, I think the Devils would expect salary retention for JVR, which would make getting under the cap extremely hard.

I think they could get Wood and a third at least for JVR with retention. He's a solid 20-25 goal scorer even at this point in his career and they'd probably be playing him with Hughes or Hischier which would also help his production. If they want a pick or lesser prospect going back so there is no retention I'm sure things could be worked out.

Agreed but since frost isn't established yet Guerin may try to hedge his bets a bit more. I still wouldn't cry if he made this deal though.

I don't think Ghost is the type of return the Wild are looking for. Perhaps Menell going to the KHL changes that, but I don't see it here. Haven't thought of Philly as a landing pad though.

Ghost is more of an add in the deal is really based around frost and the first. Ghost is really there for cap reasons he can also play the right side

He also gives us added insurance in the expansion draft. With Dumba gone Brodin gets protected leaving Soucy exposed, the Kraken might consider taking Ghost over Soucy or if we still have Ghost left after Soucy is taken. Either way our defensive depth is all the better for it.

That's fair. I really like the idea of pulling a C prospect in a Dumba trade to reduce the "need" to draft a C at 9, especially if Raymond or Holtz falls there. I guess the real question is if Philly would really be interested in this?

I think they would absolutely be interested in this trade. They add a good RHD who's still pretty young and don't give up anything from a position that they are weak in. Center and LHD are both positions that the Flyers are pretty strong in from a current stand point as well as a prospect stand point. Like I said I think it's beneficial for both teams.
