Tatar is literally signed for 1 year and isnt remotely as good as Johnny, Mete doesnt even make the Flames starting line up, Ylonen is a fine prospect but like come on this is a horrible offer

Gaudreau's career low pace, including his rookie year, is 65 points and he regularly puts up a point per game or better (one year removed from 99 points). Tatar's had exactly one year where he was on pace for more than Johnny's career low and is two years older. Sure he's a viable top 6 winger but he's not a guaranteed top liner. Mete would be our 4th or 5th best LD. A 2nd and a C prospect are not fantastic pieces. That's not an appealing package to land an elite top line playmaker. If you aren't willing to start with Suzuki or Kotkaniemi plus a first don't trade for Johnny. There's no hard feelings if he doesn't fit your rebuild but you're not getting him for spare parts, which is exactly what this is as far as Calgary is concerned.
