Yep. It’s 34th overall pick so it’s a quality pick.

Greiss gets a million more, and the bottom 6 sinks this boat.

In a COVID market I could see him taking a small paycut for only a year.

Yes the forward bottom 6 isn’t amazing but the defensive depth is great and we would have a sick top 6.

hardly, Strome isn't going to get anywhere near the point totals he got this year when he is away from Panarin. He is 3C material, if he some how magically improves, maybe 2C. 1C is a very big problem.
not to mention that its a 5 year contract... avoid him at all costs.

the bottom 6 is league worst...

Thus why he is in the 1C Role. Strome was good because He was in a position to succeed. He played the most he ever has in his career....He started in the offensive zone 6 percent more than the previous season...he had more powerplay time.

Yes on the surface he played on a line with a hart candidate. And it did elevate his game. But he was also put in situations to succeed and he reaped the benifits of those situations.

100% disagree, he had one outstanding season where he got never ending feeds from potential league MVP, and is now going to get 5M/5yr... not playing with Hart trophy candidates. you pay 5M to players who actually are good, not because they put up points with Panarin. Even just looking at the basic WOWY stats its alarming, Evolving Hockey calculated his xWAR at 0.1.

The fact that he only did good when he was put in a position where he couldn't possibly fail is exactly the reason you don't get a player like that, especially when they have arbitration so they will get a ridiculous contract. He was awful away from Panarin. Much better to go after a player who has actually shown they provide something to the team, and isn't a passenger. If NYR actually finds someone who wants Strome, I guarantee it will be a massive mistake.
