The Johnsson deal is downright hilarious. Sharks decline and block Dubas number.

You keep offering Columbus Holl and a couple picks for Savard, with CBJ taking back $2M in salary to get worse at RHD. That's not gonna do it.

I offer it because a Columbus fan said he'd take it. Don't remember who, but I remember it happening. If it doesn't work, fine, I just thought that it would because I heard so.

No worries, just have a hard time imagining Jarmo going for that.

Well at least from an outsiders view Savard might not come back or might not be worth what he asks for with Nutti coming up. Imo Nutti could easily slot into the top 4 today, so you trade Savard to recoup some picks and save future cap, while grabbing a replacement for the 3rd pair. Then it becomes

Werenksi - Jones
Gavrikov - Nutti
Murray - Holl/Peeke/Kukan

You could even flip Holl for another pick after if you'd prefer to ride with Peeke or Kukan

Resign Talbot, and sign Hall? Or sign Holtby? Flames arent trading for Freddie.

Why would he choose Toronto over Calgary? He has zero ties to either. Leafs: 2-4 swedish roster players next year. Flames: 4-6 Sedish roster players next year.

It doesn't really have to be Calgary. I think he'd be a great fit, but if not other teams that need goalies would trade for him. I shouldn't have traded for the CGY 2020 picks. Should have been 2021, because realistically he'd go to whatever team needed a goalie but didn't get one in FA successfully.

The problem with that is Toronto cant really sign Lehner until Andersen is gone. So by logic Lehner is still available is free agency. Robin isn't going to just get a phone call from Kyle saying "hey we want to offer you this contract but we cant until we make cap space by trading our current starter goalie so just sit tight for a month." Even if he did, Lehner isnt just going to sit around and wait either. He will get quite a few offers this off season and is not going to hold out in hopes that Toronto offers him a deal.

no, you can spend 10% over the cap in the offseason as long as its down by a certain date. You spend over to get Lehner and then you wait till the goalie market has run dry in UFA and then you trade him

What? That deal is nowhere close to Johnsson's real value.
The leafs can get so much more than that for him
If Kapanen can get a 1st in return, why cant Johnsson, whos a better player

So your plan is to attempt to throttle a flooded market? That ain't gonna work.
