Absolutely zero chance the Kings take Lucic's contract.

The Kings almost had a Brad Richards - Mike Richards - Brad Richardson situation several years back. B. Richards opted to sign with the Rangers instead of the Kings. Thank God for that.

I don't see any chance of Winnipeg giving up a 1st for a defenseman that will be 37 when the season starts and still have a high cap hit for another 2 seasons.

If I were a GM of a struggling team I'd take that contract on for this package. A top 20 pick and a 2nd rounder. Sounds pretty good to me.

Yeah but they have shown a willingness to trade 1st round picks to temporarily fill holes. He is still performing at an elite level and fills a crater in their lineup.

Your only a season late on the needs bit. If anything the Jets need good young defenseman, not old ones with bad contracts for an additional 2 seasons.

Giordano is a significant upgrade on Dimitry Kulikov though. If you can make that upgrade I think you do. Keep in mind it is also conditional.

Too much term and he requires expansion draft protection. By the time his contract expires, the Kings will have multiple blue chip prospects ending their ELCs that need extensions. Not worth the risk.

If the Kings want a 1st for taking on a bad contract, they'll inquire with Vancouver about Eriksson. Only 2 years remaining and protection not required.

Who are the Kings gonna protect instead of him? I'd be shocked if he didn't waive. If the Kings need to extend their rookies they can ship off Lucic for like a 2nd round pick. It's one year. Wouldn't make a big deal for a team to take on or for them to ship out. It doesn't have be LA either I just want him to go away.

Kopitar, Kempe, Iafallo, Lizotte
Doughty, Walker, Roy, Clague
Petersen

I don't see why Lucic would waive his NMC. He has a contract that specifically says he doesn't have to. Phaneuf famously didn't waive his for the Vegas draft when he was in Ottawa, and he had just about as much chance if being taken as Lucic does.

Kings aren't going to take that chance.

I know how old it is, I haven't logged on in almost a year and the last post I made was in this thread, and you were telling me that Mike Hoffman was "for sure" going to get 6 years @ $7,780,000 million AAV.

For sure, eh?

lol
