LaBanc and the first seems like a high price to pay for one year of Kyle Palmieri. If you could get some sort of Mark-Stone-like commitment to an extension from him, that would be different.

Merkley and Leonard have a combined 2 games against grown men. Will we see them next season? Most likely. But they aren’t plan A. They just aren’t ready for that

It's not a terrible idea. For one thing, I think Washington and Pittsburgh will both get further next year than the Caps did this year, so it's not clear that both picks will be better than the 2020. And if you add a 2020 fifth or sixth, I think your idea makes sense. (I just did a post where Anaheim gives up the Ducks' 2021 second for a 2020 third.)

Yes, probably add a 6th. Sharks do well in the late rounds so it would make sense. Just need more picks in 2020, there's some real talent projected in the 3rd round.
