The Wings do not want Andreas Johnsson. He's coming off a severe knee injury and even if he gets back to 100%, it will shorten his career length and make him much more susceptible to re-injury, flare-ups, and missed games. Even before the injury he wasn't that good last year (Only three 5 vs 5 goals and a shooting percentage of 4.84 vs the career high of 15.69 the year before. Yet, Leaf fans expect him to be priced at that prior year's worth). He's not worth a top 63 pick given the medical risks and unsustained development. And he signed his contract off a career high year which has multiple years left.

Between muzzin liljegren Holl lehtonen Sandin and Marincin I believe the leafs have plenty of depth to keep the bottom 4 come versed. Even in the event of injuries.

I think adding two Dmen is a little much. I would pick whichever you think fits best knock 1m off of Rodriguez’s contract and look to keep one if not both of Johnsson and kerfoot.

Ok, we will send him elsewhere. Just dumping his salary, and happened to pick Detroit.

That's one way to keep the established tradition since 1968 going: a happy Maple Leafs elimination day to you a little early then.

Don’t think you will get Rodríguez for the league min. Also, I think 2 Dman would be great. That bottom 6 is not bad. This team is way better than before.

All good arguments but leaf’s already had him back at full speed and he looked great. Between kappy and mango I would take mango all day long. He really doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Yes he certainly had a down year but that was mainly due to injury and a slow start. Personally I would keep him in Toronto. The leafs need him with nylander in our top 6.

I’m not against keeping him at all. There way just no way to fit both Severson and Demelo with him too.

It's going to be the same anywhere else (except that most other teams don't have the ability to take on 3.4M in cap space this or next year). There's a reason why Toronto fans that overvalue their own players so much are picking him as the guy to get rid of.

Face it, it's going to have to be either Nylander or Marner that goes. Anyone not addressing this fact is hoping they can cobble a team together next season. And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

Then he risks his nhl career. I don’t see anyone paying more in ufa if he gets any offers. Putting him in the pressbox or minors would also be the end of his career.

My point was just add one, rather than both. My pick would be demelo. No assets wasted and severson is a big ?... does he do better on a team with better possession?

That 7th rounder from DAL breaks the deal's back, lol.

I could see NJ getting close on the deal you've pitched. Hard to replace Severson at RD though with a LD. Asks a lot of Subban to step up...

Dermott + 2020 1st (PIT:; #15) probably gets it done. And I think Severson at 26 with 3 years of term for under $4.2M AAV is a very solid fit for the Leafs. And if the Leafs landed him, no reason not to slot him at 1RD with Rielly right away.

No. If Nylander or Marner we’re going, Kapanen would still be a Leaf. Dubas will move heaven and earth to keep the big 4 together.

Rather have both. The leafs could use a partner for Muzzin too. Not crucial, but if they want to win a cup the defence has to improve drastically. Getting two guys helps it happen.

How do you figure he's back at full speed?

He played in one playoff game with 10 minutes of ice time and did nothing (lost a faceoff and had 2 shots) in an elimination game....in fact he replaced Nicholas Robertson who actually scored during that series.

I don’t really think the leafs will trade pick 15 unless they have too. Maybe another second. Dermott is quite underrated.

TOR absolutely has to improve their RD this summer. We've all been saying their blue line is what's holding the team back for a few years. Sure, an average shooting percentage a bit more puck luck could've pushed them past CLB, but it didn't. The time is nigh to maximize Rielly's value to this team by giving him a consistent RD to work with for the future.

And let's be honest, getting #15 in that Kapanen deal is higher than we all expected. Take advantage of it. TOR's window to be a contender is now, and the #15 pick likely doesn't fight his way into the contender lineup with this group in the next 3 years. Improve the blueline and move forward as a tougher team to beat when goals are harder to come by (during playoffs).

It’s possible Severson will costvthat much. I absolutely agree that the leafs need to upgrade their blue line. If Dubas does not add a defence this offseason, he should be fired at once.

They'll be great in the regular season...and the result will again be a team that loses because of it's defense not being playoff worthy and their depth has further eroded.

...and then Toronto fans might finally see why the rest of the league calls the guy Dum(b)as(s) as there won't be anymore Larry Murphy's, Jake Gardiner's, Phil Kessel's, Dion Phaneuf's, Brian McCabe's for Toronto to blame.

...need to upgrade the defense and grit. Not keep together the top 4.

One game one shot doesn't not mean he's 100% back. He could be playing at 85% and that is all he'll ever get back to. Just because he passes your eye test on 10 minutes of ice time doesn't mean he'll ever be the same 15% shooter 5 vs 5 he was in '18-'19. Want to have a debate I'll be happy to oblige but calling a person that states facts a troll is admitting to not being able to make a counterpoint and knowing you're losing an argument.

Not saying it would be a bad thing. But it’s not happening. If it were going to happen, then the leafs would have held onto Kappy.
