Description
I think the Devils need a fresh revamp. they have a lot of roster spots taken up by "prospects" that are going no where and should look to sign some vets. I think finding hughes linemates is key. Weather is Jonsson or Kerfoot from Toronto I think they would be great fits. Then Craig smith can be his right handed option because he can skate and shoot quick. like a Walhstom or Caufield that hughes has success with before. He could score 20. Finally Sam Anas has been a top NCAA player and never given and NHL chance. I think NJ would be a perfect fit and could have a chance to even play higher up depending how he does. I think Walsh will be NHL ready and Schultz could have a bounce back year, but either way is an improvement to the right side. I think the Devils in the end need to just get quality NHL players.

Kerfoot was drafted by the Devils. He made several remarks on how he has no interest in ever playing for the Devils. They tried and convince him but he sat out a year in college to become a free agent. There is no way we are trading for him. Especially Severson, a RD with term considering we have 0 organizational depth at the position. Not in the A and long shots in the O.

TOR maybe accepts but we'd have no 3C, which is problematic.

Not sure why devils would even entertain this.

You are right I forgot ab Kerfoot being drafted so I switched it to Johnsson, which I think he and kerfoot are almost identical. for the Severson trade I am not a Devils fan but never been impressed by him I think if you can get a linemate for Hughes that is more important than keeping a borderline top 4 D on a contender making 4+ mil. With Walsh coming up on the right aswell as Smith on the left and the ability to sign someone I think they should look to trade him to Toronto if they are desprate

I switched it to Johnsson after realizing Kerfoot didn't sign with NJ and yall would not have a 3C.

It's better for everyone if you take out the 2nd and add Dermott instead, that LD you have there needs another quality player

Yeah, that would definitely work too. depends if Toronto wants to lose him, flat cap they might like his contract a little more. But I think the Devils might just want more picks, especially in this draft.

Not sure a top 9 winger with one good year and injury problems is worth vatanen. Dermott is a good third pair guy, very mobile and offensive minded. I also don't know much about Vatanen, but johnsson + dermott isn't obscene to give up.

NJD isn't trading their top defenseman for Andreas Johnsson...even if 1st rounder was included. Sorry. Nylander maybe.

Yes. No 3C
The Devils should probably add a pick?

As a caps fan watching yall when we play you and because I love watching Hughes, Severson's development has completely stalled over the last few years and i think the priority should be to get Hughes people he can play with.

No doubt! I'm not saying this team is ready to compete, but a 24 yr old rhd on a good contract for a guy who had a bad knee injury and a 2nd rd pick is not nearly enough. They csn sound in FA to help Jack and nico out. Not really my idea but giving it away is no better
