Why is there an obsession sending Johnsson to Edmonton?

this is a good team, hopefully Tanev could stay healthy bc he's otherwise a great dman. Not having extra roster players is problematic though.

I wouldn’t say an obsession, but it’s just based on speculation that’s been surfacing the last couple of days. Edmonton could use some additional scoring and I think Johnsson would fit in well within Edmonton’s top 9. I like Johnsson as a leafs fan, but I think Robertson and the fact that we need cap space are two reasons he’ll be shipped out this offseason.

Can Edmonton just take on that salary? Will holland toss a third 2nd round pick down the drain? I like to think he’s smarter than this

If they move Holl instead of Dermott and have the bottom pairing be Lehtonen-Dermott and sign Soup for 500k less they'd have room for 2 scratches

Completely agree. I think for that reason alone (not having extras) that Dubas is going to have to either look for a cheaper Andersen replacement and/or move Kerfoot and allocate that money towards filling out the roster.

Yea, I can't see him trading any more higher end picks more likely a player for player trade needed.

you're right. I would never trade (multiple) 2nd rounders for a youngish 3rd liner

That’s definitely a possibility. I went with Holl over Dermott because of the fact that he’s an actual right shot and Dermott/Lehtonen may prefer their strong side.

That’s where the talks stall who would Toronto want? Larsson well not getting him for a 3rd liner.

I think both of them can play the right side plus Dermotts younger and would be cheaper so its a no brainer. Can't be playing without extras

Johnsson is signed to a reasonable cap hit with a couple years left on his deal and definitely suits the oilers play style. Over his career in the NHL he averages 0.53 pts/gm which is equivalent to 44 points over a full season. Sure beats having Ennis playing in your top 6/9.

An Edmonton TSN hit had them interested in Johnsson.

Why is there an obsession with hating trades that make sense? The team most likely interested in acquiring Johnsson would probably be Edmonton since as said above he makes sense on their top 6.

I’m missing the part where it makes sense. Both teams in a cap crunch one seems to be dumping salary while not taking anything back other than draft capital oilers can’t afford to be throwing away after swinging and missing on AA. So oilers are in a bigger cap problem less draft capital for a 3rd line winger not sure where the makes sense comes into play

I only said Holland wouldn't want to add higher end picks. TO could add or could be Benning+lower end pick

Didn't the Panthers lose to the Islanders in 4?

In Edmonton, Ennis has a good chance of playing with McDavid. He has good chemistry with him. He also gets to see his family more
In Florida...low taxes I guess?
