I mean if carolina can get him to agree to an extension I could see it, can't see arizona taking reimer with raanta and hill a cheap back up even if they moved kemper, which they won't

damn you'd really reacquire reimer just to flip him out to the freaking desert, that would be even sadder than all the game 7 collapses for leafs fans

Kuemper is a top 5 goalie in the NHL on an amazing contract. The Coyotes aren’t trading him, especially for that crap.

Arizona is in Financial trouble and they have no 1st rounder this year or next year. Also no 2nd this year. Desperate times call for desperate measures and considering it’s not exactly as bad as you say bc they are getting a 1st, 2nd, a potential top 4 d and a fringe starter back. Also getting hossa off the books would help out the owners.

I thought the same thing but apparently they're owned by a billionaire who's down to just print money to keep them afloat. Also Kuemper is literally a stud so he's a perfect example of a player they bite the bullet on and pay for 2 more years.

Also, LTIR sucks and the leafs should avoid it if they can + Hossa's contract is insured so Arizona is only on the hook for like $200K which is nothing

Apparently his business took a serious hit during Covid tho... even without the money problems tho a 1st and a fringe Starter for a another goalie isn’t horrible. They legit got slapped by the NHL and now have no picks

They cannot do an extension before draft, so this trade would have to be for 1-year....then can add conditional pieces if he resigns.

Andersen isn’t close enough to get you 13OA

Too it off Canes are only interested in getting him for cheap. Hence why EF said they weren’t giving him away.

EF thoughts are rarely true.

Hossa makes $1 million, which is mostly paid by insurance. Just because you’re desperate doesn’t mean making stupid decisions. Like I said before, Kuemper is a top 5 goalie in the NHL on one of the best contracts in the NHL. Without him the Coyotes would be one of the worst teams in the NHL, and the loss of their pick would hurt that much more. Hjalmarsson = the first, so you’re giving up a 2nd and a 17th overall pick for the 2nd most valuable goalie in the NHL. That’s not even close.

I wouldn't do that Arizona trade. I don't think Hjalmarsson is the answer to our problems at all. Maybe prime age Hjalmarsson, but not him currently. He has 1 year left on his deal is 33, has always been piss poor offensively and wasn't good defensively last year. He plays the right side but is a lefty.

Keumper is a good goaltender but i don't think he is a huge upgrade on Andersen when you factor in the playstyles of each of our teams. If we make that trade with Carolina which we would have to add too, i would happily run with Reimer and Campbell as a tandem. Keep Liljegren and the picks. I believe Liljegren can be a stable option for us sometime next year and beyond. No reason to trade him for one year of the ghost of Hjalmarsson. Sign DeMelo to a 3x3 deal and stick him on a pair with Reilly and let him do his thing. I find that much preferable.

No reason to take on Hossa. His salary is almost nothing and the majority of it is covered by insurance. We are finally rid of our LTIR contracts. We need to let what little capspace we have during the season accrue to spend on necessary trade deadline targets.

Friedman said today on SN 650 that feeling around ARI is that they want to rebuild considering they have no 1st for the next 2 years and the owner isn’t happy with how the team looks. Said that Kuemper would be one of the better pieces to move to start that rebuild.
