Because they rebuild their team and still draft a top RD at 15.
Then when barkov needs a new deal you have a markar at .925 for 3 years.
They are not winning this next 3 year year.
But they only have Bob for so ling.
Sell high on Ekblad and rebuild your team on one guy.
Also you cut slary that the Leafs will gladdly help with.

Johnsson is a 50-60 point player.
Dermott was a 35 pick by KD who has done well with his 2nd round picks.
And 18 year old made the team.

Lil is a 17
You get a15 and you are not winning for 2 years so that has future cap value.
The 7.5 lets you sign Hall to more than Calg. Or is Calg gets Hall you probably trade some of this and get Johnny from the flames.

I have no idea what you’re talking about but Florida declines.

guess you need to read more, watch more hockey or understand that to live in a salary cap world terms like "future value" are very important.

For example

WHEN A TEAM OFFER SHEETS BARZAL FOR

10,568,586 X 5

Whixh would be 2 firsts a 2nd and 3rd.
Lou will see that paying the bottom 6 40 mill might get you to the conference final.
But when you lose your best player you are gonna miss the playoffs.

Or good luck moving that Komorov deal.

1. While widely reported owner wants to shed $, doesn’t mean the new GM will just be giving assets away. Plus you added Hall as UFA which goes against shedding $, or him saying he’s prioritizing winning
2. Ekblad could net them multiple 1sts plus prospects if they decided that way or an elite forward like Nylander to join Barkov and Huberdeau
3. You won’t have to worry about resigning Barkov or Huberdeau because they won’t want to stay for a rebuild when they barely sniffed playoffs thus far in their careers
4. While a talented deep draft, there really isn’t a lot of top Defenseman outside of Sanderson and Drysdale who should be gone by 15, rest are going to be bitof a reach

Braden Schneider (6-2, 202), D, Brandon (WHL) -- A hard-skating, two-way right-handed shot with great competitiveness and hockey IQ.

I like Schneider and if Leafs keep the pick, I don’t mind them reaching for him at 15 but I’d rather them move back because he is a reach at 15. I like Guhle too but he’s left shot but again don’t think he’s top 15 in the draft
