Description
I've thought about this a few times. If the Leafs can't afford a high level bottom 6, why not just spread it out? Why front load our "top 6" rather than have 3 high level lines like we did when Marner and Matthews were rookies? I think it could work, and could free up cap in a way

$10.8M for a third liner? ... yikes. Also no interest in throwing away the 15th overall pick for a 1 year (sorta) wonder goalie and a d-man rental.

what is he worth to you? A project player for a proven young winger that can play in your top 6 sounds pretty reasonable for the Oilers.

lol. It's good value for Puljujarvi. Or have fun having him not play for the team still.

I wouldn't consider it a "third liner". Remember how the Pens put Kessel with Bonino and Hagelin on the "third line", so to speak? Same concept. Wouldn't call Korpi a "one year wonder". He was a highly regarded goalie prospect and only got a starting gig this year. Was an all-star too. Murdered our team in the playoffs, and was crazy good against Tampa. Also on a cheap contract for 2 years.

I mean Marner easily makes the time back in PP and PK minutes. You'd roll those 3 lines.

But you didn't spread the wealth. Signed a high priced UFA and then is left with an impractical 21 man roster

I am not giving up on him unless a extreme overpay. Probably get Johnsson for a 2nd late 2nd or a 3rd. Big Big Big difference from what the oilers are asking for JP. Dont pay the price and he doesnt get traded....

"Showing up for camp" does not mean "will play for you 100%" ... have fun back in grade school English class. Lmao.

Well if he signs a contract before coming to camp, which is being worked on right now. Than it is a pretty good chance he will play. Have fun correcting people spelling and grammar your whole life when some of us absolutely dont care on here.

Huge decline by the Jackets.
Korpisalo is probably worth at least a 1st now, and probably also a player or prospect, especially after his past season performance, all star nomination, playoff series performance, and very friendly salary/contract.
Savard also would return at least a 2nd...some playoff or bubble team would probably pay a 1st at trade deadline to bolster their playoff chances.
No way CBJ would even consider sending a 3rd and 4th back in that trade.

Wow big no from oil country. Ideas like this really do make it hard to ever even want to negotiate with any leafs fan. Just gives the leafs fan base a black eye.

... when did I correct spelling and grammar on you? "Have fun in English class" meant you need to learn how to read things because "coming to camp" does not mean "I'm going to play".. but have fun being a spaz over an online comment more often bud 👍🏻

Korpisalo straight up for the Pittsburgh pick isn’t too far off. Maybe throw in a late 2nd or early 3rd and we have ourselves a deal. Savard is probably off the table. Anyways, nice trades man 👍🏻

I mean my understanding is that he's a project player. I didn't realize that they had made progress with him, and that he may be coming to camp. Last I heard he signed another year in Finland, so I guess I was a bit misinformed. If he's willing to come back to the Oilers, then I agree that EDM probably would not take this

I think you overestimate how much goalies typically return in trades, much less relatively unproven ones (I know he was stellar this year, but that's not a significant sample size)

Ok, so go pay big money for the big UFAs...Lehner, Holtby, Greiss, Markstrom, Khudoben, & Talbot.

Look what it did for the Panthers and Bob last year, it put them in immediate cap h*ll by going the UFA route.
Vegas will probably sign Lehner, and have to trade Flower to do so. Fleury will probably return a lot, granted he is better than Korpi, but by how much, given that he is 10 years older and mid 30s now.
Personally I would rather keep Korpi and trade Merzlikens. Somehow the Jackets seem the think that Elvis is their future though.
Time will tell, but one will probably be traded in 2021.

by the time the expansion draft comes around one of them will be gone. I think the Leafs would be happy to name one of them as their new starter. Chose Korpi mainly because he makes less money and we have no cap space. It would ideally be done this offseason, and I think if it were to happen this is pretty damn fair.
