Description
CRAZY IDEA...but let me explain...
First off..i know BOB's contract is beyond horrible...but apparently Florida needs to cut salary....so Leafs send Freddy who is only owed 1mil after his bonus was paid....we take on Bob's full contract minus about $3mil that Florida retains allowing them to bring up Spencer Knight...This saves Florida over 10mil in actual dollars Leafs get their RD to play with Reilly along with Acciari who scored 20 goals and will make up some of what we loose from Nylander..Johnsson gives FLorida Johnsson who would be a good option if he can bounce back to his rookie year and Leafs get Tippett and 12th overall picj for taking on the 10mil albatros of a contract...Leafs could then draft both Askarov & Schneider and once the Kraken get ready to draft they work out a deal where Seatle picks BOB from us who is only making 7mil from Florida's retention...perhaps Leafs also retain 2 or 3 mil and have cheap goaltending with Askarov and Campbell along with retained till the end of Bob's contract.

This team would never exist, Rodrigues is going to arbitration.... the leafs depth is so weak it is frankly unimaginable.... the leafs suck and will not be making the playoffs any time soon imo

If he doesn't have a big, redeeming year, the cost would be astronomical if they would even do it at all.

For Rodrigues to get to a 1 mil contract arb would never be involved. The Leafs would have to not give him a qualifying offer, making him not eligible for arbitration, then sign him as a UFA. In other words, Rodrigues will never make it to arb either way.

i said the idea was crazy....i would think picking up a prospect like Tippett and a 1st round pick to acquire the goalie of the future would be at least worth 1 year of Bob....like i said we send him as our player to Seatle....retain 3 million for what the next 54 or 5 years whatever it is....Seatle then has Bob for like 4 or 5 million for 4 or 5 years....i think it makes sense....just trying something different

ya and....it's already been talked about as an option...he does not wanna take 1 mil or less then move on from him...lots of guys would be willing to take that....Rodrigues is just a place holder for some other cheap winger....maybe they dont qualify him and bring back Clifford.....hell maybe Tippett joins the team

Seems like I have corrected this so many times on here. The leafs can sign him to anything league min or above before his QO is due. Leafs will not take him to arb and he will not bother with arb. Leafs would walk away.

whatever the case he is just a place holder.....not even sure he is worth having on team....there will be lots of guys around league minimum we can sign there

At 750k you take him. He is an nhler. A desperate one at that to get his career back in track. He has zero leverage in negotiations. A 750-1m contract is in his future.

Ekblad worth more than Nylander.
Cookie is better defensively than Johnsson
Even though Bob had a bad year he will rebound and be a great teacher for Knight.
Then you expect the Cats to add Tippett and a 1st on top of that. Just isn’t going to happen. All the Cats need to do is improve their defensive and they’ll be fine.

Gonna be tough to do if they really are looking to shed 10million from there cap.....what is that worth to a team....that is why i included Tippett and a 1st....it cost the Leafs a 13th to get rid of 1 year of Marleau....what is 6 years of 10 million for BOB worth? also dont agree with Ekblad being worth more...history of concusions and such i'd say it's pretty fair trade....Knight will never play if BOB stays there for the next 6 years

We will see what happens but sure it won’t be remotely close to this.

i agree....just trying to throw out a different idea on here and try to be a little creative....all speculation since we don't know what each team really needs or has to do...maybe have to add Liljegren to offset Tippett or the pick to help Florida recover a RD and start rebuild with cheaper players.

Tippett won’t be part of any deal as he and Denisenko are going to help replace Hoffman and Dadanov especially if the cap shed is real

Well neither one of us really know that now do we.....and so unless these 2 teams hook up for any variation of this trade i guess we will never know
