Description
Lol, Danault is not getting traded - the english hockey world can't translate french... and it shows.

Danault was asked by a dumb journalist about how he felt " becoming the 3rd Center he is supposed to be"

And his answer was mostly a f*ck you to that journalist... "stfu, I think I have proven enough with this club to be seen as more than a 3rd pairing center.

The guy drove one of the best 5v5 line in the league, while playing against the best offensive lines... so I understand why he was frustrated with the question.

Now, I see why It can be misleading when you see a headline saying "Danault is unhappy" then seeing a quote out of context.

I've been seeing a lot of offers for Danault lately, and they range from terribly awful to meh.

Danault is MB's guy... MB drafted him in Chicago, then traded for him. He is a cornerstone in both Montreal's 5v5 and defense. He is a great 200ft player that is way too important to mtl to be traded.

Lastly, he is a hometown boy. One of the few french Quebecker on the team...

I really like Danault but most of the trades on here with him have been anything but meh, most if not all of the ones I've seen have been more then fair offers.

Larsson isn't a cap dump.

Dallas isn't trading Hintz for the Habs cap dump.

Not to MTL, letting go Danault will necessitate more than a "fair" trade.

Is it Russel then? One of them is a cap dump, I may have switch them up by accident - i know that one of their RD is a recurring cap dump.

Byron is not a cap dump, he is a multiple 20 goal scorer. Pk specialist and speed demon. It's supposed to be an OS... but I mentioned that I needed input from Dallas fans.

I got the impression that Danault loves the team and being in Montreal, but won't be happy if he is relegated to a defensive 3C role in his contract year next season. Because if he is stuck behind Suzuki and Kotkaniemi, his point totals are going to drop considerably and really hurt his value in free agency.

Regardless the Danault trades on here or at least the ones I've seen have all been a good return for Montreal, definitely none that would be called terribly awful.. Lol

Its Russell who's the cap dump.

Just don't see a lot of teams having interest in Byron.

Still in the playoffs, he played more minutes than Suzuki and KK - but with Gally injured and Tatar invisible during the playoffs - they dismantled his line and focus on defense because our big guns were not producing. The worst part is that "defensive line" he was playing generated a ton of offense.

Danault will still be our #1C next year... then he will be 2a or 2b with KK the following years. he will still get the most ice time between the three, and will still play against the best lines the opponent can throw at him. He is our modern Carbonneau.

As-tu entendu ou juste lu dans le journal sa réaction? Le journaliste était fkn condescendant. Danault a répondu au tac-au-tax.

I've seen some pretty bad ones.

Sorry for that mix up - ill edit the trade.

Well I don't think he was announced to be available anyway... and he was injured this year so the points are not there, they only see a 3.4M player who played half the season.

This is exactly what is not happening.

KK will be 3rd center for many years still. 4 goals during the playoffs wont change that and Danault will have way more ice time than him next year. As for Suzuki, he might actually become 1C sooner than later because he is just a complete player.

Just recoping your explanation here, since it needs to be repeated (you only forgot the Selke considerations). Might even copy-paste it on other AGMs!

Oh I should clarify. I think that this is Danault's worry, I do not think this is what will happen. I'm fairly confident that Bergevin and Julien will alleviate that concern and you'll go into next year with Danault slotted in right behind Suzuki.

That still won't stop me from tossing half-baked Danault trades onto this site all off-season. 😋
