I agree. Bozak for a bust and a 4th is definitely an overpay. Blues decline the offer but thank New York for the conversation.

Here, I'm quoting myself again to answer your question: I agree. Bozak for a bust and a 4th is definitely an overpay. Blues decline the offer but thank New York for the conversation.
Where in that quote have I stated (or even implied) anything about Petro???

A more serious response by me would be, yes and no. Yes, I'm okay with losing Petro is it means we keep Dunn and Parayko. No, I would rather not lose Petro, but that does not mean we cannot keep both Parayko and Petro. Will that involve moving Bozak? Yes, likely so. Just because he needs to be moved does not mean Armstrong sells low on one of the best 3Cs in the league. Lias brings nothing to the table except youth. The Blues have that in the AHL. No sense in giving away one of the best 3Cs in hockey for a bust and a mediocre pick.

Because who else do you trade to create cap space without losing other assets or losing valuable production from your current roster?

You bring up a very solid question here, especially the last half of it. I would make the argument that the Blues have already lost "valuable production from (our) current roster." Tarasenko may be done. He may come back but never be the same. Bozak is an asset and could be moved, but I'm not sure Thomas cannot replace his production at 3C. Thomas is about to explode, so his production probably only gets better. Allen, while a tad overpaid for a 1B goalie, is not a dud. Yes, he did have about a year and a half of dud stats, but look what he did against Minnesota in the playoffs a few years ago. Look what he did in the season and a half leading up to that. Look what he did this past year, and consider he and Perron were arguably the best two players in the brief Covid Cup the Blues just finished. Trading him would lose some goalie "production," but it wouldn't affect the type of production you reference about Petro. Stenn could be bought out or offered a front office position at his current salary after he retires. Both parties win. Blues save a bunch of money. Steen makes his money and possibly has a new career. Sanford could be moved, and his "production" (if you call it that) could definitely be replaced by a Blais-Kyrou-Kostin group. For some reason unbeknownst to me, Edmonton has been hot on Sanford's trail for two years. That would save an additional $1.5 million. I admit your question was both fair and good, but the Blues are not in as dire straits as some like to believe.
