Description
Tinkering with some moves that I published awhile ago and trying to be fairly impartial on assigning value to players.
Is this enough to entice Tampa to do the deal? They get some relief and control over costs and future assets while still plugging a huge hole when giving up Point.
Not sure of the value in the Philly deal - I'm buying low on Ghost and giving him 3rd-pairing duty. Lots of folks are down on his game but he's young enough to bounce back. I'm really unsure of Lindblom though. Where does he fit in the Philly org chart? Is he an untouchable? I really don't know and need some input. The deal is as revenue-neutral as I could make it.
Maybe we get Lehner as $6.25, maybe not. A lot is riding on whether Vegas can shed Fleury and we make a strong pitch where he sees us being a serious contender. Is this roster strong enough?

Please provide input as you see fit, so long as it's more than "XYZ declines". I'd really like to hear perspective and what some counter-proposals might look like.

It doesn't hurt to try. This is only exploring what a fair deal may look like, not whether the team actually accepts. Remember, negotiations have to have a starting point.

That's fair, so what does Tampa do when no one in the league is generous enough to help them out of their cap hell without asking for a significant bit of pain for the Bolts? Who do they not sign and do they go with a 19-man roster all season? They aren't sitting in as lofty a perch as you assume.

That oilers 3rd round pick should not have even been transferred in the first place. None of the conditions of the trade were met, and never would have been met even if the season went on to 82 games. Neal was injured and never would have scored 3 more goals, let alone played 10 more games. I don’t agree with the NHL’s decision on this one!

That's true and I'm honestly shocked that the league awarded the pick. As much as I detest the Oilers, I agree that this wasn't fair and sets a poor precedent.

Just when I thought we were past the Gaudreau to Philly shenanigans....

GMCF on Lindblom: "Our organization believes wholeheartedly in Oskar, our players believe in him, AV and our coaching staff believe in him and I believe in him. We couldn’t be happier to have this three-year deal done. “As I said to him earlier today, this hopefully is the smallest contract you sign for the rest of your career."

GMCF on trading Ghost: "I’ve been here a year. I can’t say I'm always on social media but I’m amazed at how often I’m trading him. We were certainly not looking to move him.Teams have called me on him. Nothing really makes sense right now to me to move [him] unless we’re getting a really great impact player back in some area."

So... we'll ship out those two guys and two high draft picks for a player that is coming off a down year and into the deepest part of our depth chart. By the way he will be a UFA shortly.

Nice, that's the feedback I was looking for and am happy to receive! As I said, I had no clue where Lindblom fit in on the Flyers' depth chart or if he's an untouchable and you definitely answered that! Is there a deal to be made with Philly vis-a-vis a counter-proposal? Perhaps Morgan Frost and no retention, for instance, rather than OL? I believe there's little question JG would re-sign with Philly at the expiration of his current deal and I really hope you don't come back with, "He only has 2 years left, we'll sign him then..." 2 years is an eternity these days.

The biggest issue is that we 1. don't have a ton of cap space and have big holes on RD and depth in net (maybe 3C if Patrick does not return although I expect him to be back fulltime next season), and 2. have six NHL-caliber LWs (Giroux, Lindblom, JVR, Farabee, Laughton, and Raffl).

I believe Gaudreau is good at hockey, will rebound from this season, and adds a great offensive game to almost any team. I just don't understand how to make it work without massive tinkering.

And yes, Lindblom is untouchable given his production in the shortened season, his 200-ft game, and his off-ice battle. There's just no way I could handle that this year.

Yikes! I see what you mean on cap space. If some of those performance bonuses hit, the overage penalties are going to be a killer next year. At least they might be able to spread it out over two years based on the new CBA. Looks like no way to make a deal there as we can't take back enough salary to compensate.

Point and Headman are the only untouchables
The bolts would be open to moving any else for the right return.
