Why would the flames take on a bad contract when 1. they will already have zero cap next year 2. won’t get any picks for taking it? And why would the Avs trade away a future top 2 defenseman for two aging forwards?

So I know Bennett looks good in the playoffs but as an everyday 2nd line center he just isnt gonna work.

Krejci is heavily retained and it fits under the Flames cap structure

The real cringe is you don't think MVP is the best hockey movie of all time

Not that it matters all that much but Krejci with salary retained is a steal for his playoff performance and he is a FA at the end of the year. So don’t worry too much about being cap strapped

As long as they have that money top line and a serviceable blueline they will be in a playoff spot. It'll be interesting to see how the Krug extension comes about if at all.

My money is on a Kadri win by submission, he's a fair bit bigger height and weight wise.

If Chara is also done there is a massive hole in the top two LD spots

Let’s just for minute think COL would consider it, they won’t because Newhook and Byram are untouchable, they trade their 2C, a 2w, their 3C, a future #1 D man and their future 2C (who is really a future 1C), for a winger and C. Yes Bergeron is better than Kadri, yes Marchand is better than Burakovsky (and I think MacKinnon and Marchand would love playing together), but is that difference worth 2 of the best prospects in the game and Compher? No way. The Avs are in the same spot they are now looking for a 2nd line winger to play w/Marchand and Bergeron, no 3C and their 2 best prospects who will be immediate contributors for going straight to cap hell. Yeah that’s a pass for the Avs.
