Good signing. If he ever learns how to finish on his breakaways, he's going to get a much bigger payday in 2023. If not, he's still a quality 4th liner for not much money.

This seems a little high to me. I had Grundstrom and Wagner both pegged at around 950; if one were to come in higher than the other, I figured it to be Grundstrom.

3Y deal, probably reason why. And still an effective 4th liner.

1.1 is on the cheap end now for good 4th liners. Plus they really don't have any cap issues upcoming so it's not a big deal in the long run

Could look like a steal of a contract in a few years.

Not sure why. Grundstrom had a poor training camp and played nearly the entire season in Ontario, while Wagner has had a full time NHL slot for two seasons now. Grundstrom has a higher ceiling, but teams don't pay for potential.

I'm looking forward to revisiting this with you at the trade deadline.

It's a little too high right now, but that doesn't matter at all. Wagner does everything you could ask from a 4LW.

By that time it's entirely possible that Grundstrom has overtaken Wagner in his development and the former proves to be the better player. However, contract values are based on past performance, not future potential. Wagner earned the higher payday.

Wagner actually plays RW. Moore is the LW on his line.
