Description
I honestly have no idea what Domi's contract value would be... I compared him to Brayden Schenn... that seems reasonable to me.

MTL accept
Maybe Domi + 16th + Kulak or Mete vs Connor would be more fair

I could get behind something along these lines personally, even though I bet we would get even more for him in real life just off perceived value

If we're trading an almost 40 goal scorer I'd hope we could get one of the other 2nd round picks the Habs have, maybe one of their three RHD prospects as well.

maybe it is just me but why do the Jets sign DeMelo for that much? He is not a true top 4 d-man

I'd be willing to give up a lot more than that for Kyle Connor

Schenn is an excellent comparable for Domi's contract, I think Domi could come in cheaper though, maybe ~$6M.

Schenn just won a cup when he signed his deal, he also has size and a more consistent track record than Domi.

I'd be happy to add, say Juulsen to the trade. It was just a starting point.

Brook, Fleury, Juulsen

Juulsen is broken. He still hasn't fully recovered from his eye injury. The Jets should steer clear.

So it's a little high... it's still probably in the $6 Millionish range. Like I said, I was just trying to think of similar type players.

Yes he definitely is. He should fall somewhere between $3.5 and $4 Mil.

I don't see why Winnipeg makes that trade. It doesn't fill any holes for the Jets.

Jets have holes at C and D... Make a trade for a 2C and D... Somehow doesn't fill any holes...

Okay so Fleury or Brook then, I'd be fine with either, think Brook may be a Manitoban as well so that'd please a lot of Jet fans.. Lol

I just don't see it. Jets only gave up a 3rd rounder to get him. Doesn't have shutdown or offensive capabilities. He is a 5-6 dman on a playoff team. Lots of fish in the UFA pool that are better that Winnipeg should be able to sign for that money. Hamonic or Edmundson would be a better choice.

It fixes the hole at 2C, but creates a hole at wing and does nothing for defense as the Jets need top 4 defense not bottom pairing guys. So, still 2 holes.

Grossly underestimating Brett Kulak.

What they gave up for him is completely irrelevant.

He is absolutely a shutdown defenseman. What he brings is something the Jets desperately need... He's strong at eliminating dangerous chances, and moves the puck out very efficiently. He's exactly what they need paired with Morrissey.

The return a pending UFA at trade deadline is an indication of how good a player is. Ottawa knew that the 3rd rounder was the best they were going to get especially when the deal went down a week before the deadline. If he is a 1st liner as you say he is then it would of been a 2nd+.

The return of a pending UFA at the deadline is an indication of the Market. Only 1 defenseman was traded for a 1st round pick, and that was Brady Skjei... who is not a UFA.

The trade market for D was thin.... Therefore the return was light.

I’ll try to be a decent guy here and point something out,

First thing, it’s said that Ehlers and Laine r on the board, no mention of Conner... meaning the jets would consider trading those 2 while Conner is not even considered
2nd,
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jets-kyle-connor-rounding-game-top-10-player-potential/

Meaning the jets organization think extremely high of Kyle Conner, and he’s locked up long term, aka untouchable

The return for Greene (yes Andy Greene), Dillion, Scandella, and Martinez was greater then what Ottawa got for DeMelo. I guess we will see who signs DeMelo to see his real value.

You do realize this whole site is hypothetical?..
Just cause TSN came out with the trade bait list and Connor isn't on it there should be absolutely no Connor trades on CapFriendly?!.. Lol

No one should be untouchable.

DeMelo is slow, small and got tossed around against Calgary and so did his D partner, Morrissey really needs a bigger D partner and so does Pionk if he's going to remain with the Jets.
