Not enough imo. A Laine trade has to contain Kotkaniemi or Suzuki.

We all know that’s not happening

I doubt Winnipeg considers a trade where Danault is the main piece coming back for Laine.

I don’t think so. Fleury is risky, who knows if he will ever be a top 4D. Danault even extended he’s like 28 and will be declining soon. Make it Domi + Caufield + Juulsen and a 2020 1st and Winnipeg considers it

No thanks. Laine is a great talent, but not for that much and he’ll want 8 or 10 million soon

Even then... WIN gets a 2C, a potential number 4 d-man (don't forget he was drafted in 2017, it's still relatively young), a top 20 pick in the 2020 draft and another interesting pick. Maybe «takes it and runs» is a bit exaggerated but I believe they'd consider it

Habs need to pay more. Caufield + Danault (+ maybe Fleury). Altough if I were the jets I would prefer Domi + Caufield. Isn't the Domi family from this area. Caufield 's from Wisconsin, not too far also. This is important when the time comes to re-sign.

I can see Jets accepting this if they know that Laine has no intention of signing long term.
On the other hand, would Laine sign long term with the habs ? Is it all worth it if just for 2 years ?

I’m sure they’d want something like Sanheim + Frost + pick or Pesce + Suzuki + pick or Walker + Turcotte + pick. These are the type of trades Winnipeg would be chasing. Young players to fill 2C and RHD either now or in a year

Yeah I'd prefer Domi over Danault just from the age factor, the couple years difference are huge actually.

People seriously underestimate how much age factors into things in the new NHL.

Yup. Just look at how many big contracts were given to guys 27 and older and after 1 year, it’s down the drain and looks horrible. Jamie Benn, Jeff Skinner, etc. Better to sign a guy between 22 and 24 to a longterm deal

Don’t drag us into it. This is between y’all. There’s no hole in our lineup that can be filled by trading Sanheim or Myers if the return isn’t a better young defenseman.
