Hawks pass. We aren't looking to move cap to acquire cap. Johansson would be a 3rd liner and costing us $3.8M more then our ELC players on the 3rd line such as Nylander, Suter or $800K more then Shaw.

The Leafs trade is enticing, only I'd swap out Middlestadt or Thompson for a 1st Rounder. The Hawks trade also wouldn't work, they don't really need third liners but they do need defence.

I wouldn't say hate on Hutton for free. Just a reminder that Detroit can get a goalie, actually for free in the UFA market. Carter Hutton did NOT play well last year.

Well in the flat cap world that's likely how it will work, even cap trades. Value is definitely in Chicago's favour. MoJo is an easy 30 point forward with plenty of experience and is an expiring contract too.

I'd take out Mitts and make it a top 15 protected 2021 1st

I totally understand. Hutton is only a 2.75 cap hit for 1 year. If you bury him its only 50% against the cap. Doubt you can find a better goalie for cheaper in this fairly weak UFA goalie market

Not interested, Hawks have plenty of ELC players that can put up points on the 3rd line and simply don't have the cap room. Teams that have cap space will weaponize it and get a great deals on Maatta or De Haan such as a 4th or 5th round pick and a AHL prospect as such in flat cap world.
