So, we’re trading Laine for 1 year of dougie and 2 of trocheck? Only way it happens is if dougie agrees to a reasonable extension like 6x8. Bean is great to have, but if they’re just rentals this is an awful trade for WPG.

You are heavily overpaying for Laine and Pionk. Hamilton is one of the best defencemen in the league, Trochek is a good middle-six center, and Jake Bean is a good defensive prospect.
Laine and Pionk are both good, but Laine is a little one-dimensional while Pionk will not be able to replace what Hamilton would bring on the blue-line.

Yeah my only issue with this trade is that as it stands it’s just Laine and Pionk for two rentals and a good prospect which isn’t good. If dougie is willing to take a 6 year deal at 8-8.5 it’s so worth it.

Exactly he is a clear #1 dman but it still would be shi**y if he was just left in FA and just left with Trocheck and Bean. If Trocheck left as well? Woof that would be very bad

I can see why canes fans would say no to this deal, but I also see why it would make sense for both sides if dougie is interested in an extension. Canes clear some cap space while keeping their d-core intact and upgrading up front. Jets get their #1 dman and a 2C that will be gone when hopefully Lundell is ready to take over. The jets also get a good d prospect in bean to create some competition in the jets d prospect pool.

With big trades there’s always a compromise on both sides and I think the OP did a good job of showing that with this trade
