My personal list of untouchable players

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 2, 2020
Published: Sep. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
LW=untouchable, RW=would consider moving at the right price

Why they are untouchable:
Hellebuyck: literally the lord and saviour of the team this year on a pretty good deal, one of the best goalies in the league easily.

Scheifele: the 1C of the team, this past playoff series showed how lost we are without him.

Ehlers: best winger on the team by far in my opinion. He is like a budget McDavid in the way he is so dynamic in the transition game and is pretty solid defensively.

Morrissey: had a bad year this year, but i would still have him as our best dman right now, when he played at his best, he is a very hard defenceman to play against.

Copp: Very versatile player who is the best defensive forward on a team that played defence like a beer league team. Has shown a lot of flashes of what he could do offensively as well. His ability to play center only makes him more valuable to the team.

Heinola: on a team starved for defence, it is a pretty bad idea to even consider trading away the best prospect in the system.

Samberg: similar to Heinola, I really want to see what the big and mobile Samberg could do on our depleted blue line before I even consider moving him.

Gawanke: pretty much the only notable RD in the system. Was very good on a poor moose team last year as well.

Up for sale:
Paul Maurice: anyone want to take him and his 1960 style hockey off our hands please?

Cheveldayoff: if he actually trades Ehlers he is free for the taking as well.

What's the deal with Maurice, why does every Jets fan under the sun hate him?

Quite simply he just doesn’t get the best out of his group and makes them play away from their strengths. Like this year for example, we would just sit back and let the team outshoot us by double and he would not allow for creative rushes or attacks, while our team is built from skilled forwards

I don’t think Morrissey is going to be shopped yet, he just had a poor season for his standards, if he was to have another year like this one I would look into moving him, Connor on the other hand should be available

About 29 teams would take Morrissey...other two can't make cap room

Yeah I might have been a little harsh on that one just based off his poor year this year I don’t think they should give up on him yet, let me change that

Laine, Connor and Morrissey are players the Jets shouldn't consider moving. That's how you send a franchise back into the basement.

I think there’s kinda 2 tiers to this. 1st tier: Scheifele-Morrissey-Hellebuyck. 1C, 1D, Vezina goalie. If any one of them goes down for any stretch of time, the entire team is absolutely screwed. 2nd tier: Laine, Ehlers, Connor, Wheeler. Besides Scheifele, the entirety of our offense comes from those 4 wingers. We could theoretically trade one of them for a defenseman, but our offense would suffer massively. That’s the core, every other player or prospect is not untouchable (and I love Heinola and Samberg)

he has the worst "system" in the nhl, by a large margin, doesn't put the best players out in a position to succeed, and seems to change lines quite frequently, also he has his guys going into training camp and there is literally nothing you can do to change that unless someone gets hurt

What's GMKC waiting to fire him?

I honestly don’t know the whole Winnipeg Jets organization is very hung up about loyalty to its staff and to its players. It’s not a bad thing to want to put forward but at sometime results have to matter more.

What bunzy said, and i think Chevy is extremely cautious before making any moves, why i highly doubt there'll be a Laine trade or a Pietro signing, he'll probably just trade away like Lowry and Perreault and sign Demelo and Gudas or smth similar this summer

I mean Keeping DeMelo and signing another d-man is a must for you guys, so I wouldn't blame him for doing that...

Yeah, I'm not saying that's a bad offseason at all, I'm just saying that with all the rumors flying around of a Laine or Ehlers trade, or huge FA signing, everything Chevy has done in the past points to him just laying low and not doing much of anything this offseason

I think it's partially that ownership likes him and thinks he's good, he does talk a good game so that satiates a hockey hungry market and ownership that doesn't know as much as it thinks it does, also I think just like it's tough to get free agents to sign in Winnipeg it's also tough to get good coaches to come to Winnipeg.

On a side note, do NOT trade Ehlers, unless a severe overpay, dude's amazing, IMO better than all 3 of Laine, Connor and Wheeler

I mean... compared to the trade Laine+Ehler and sign Pietro "rumors"/ideas I've seen, I'd call that cautious lol

Gawd the signing Pietrangelo idea needs to stop, I know it's fun to dream but there's no way he's signing in Winnipeg, need to keep it on the realistic side.. Lol

If he could flush the bottom 6 of Perreault and Lowry while adding a couple RHD including some much needed snarl in Gudas that'd be alright, not hitting a home run but not trading Laine or Ehlers would be a home run in my books!..
