If Vegas was willing to retain, it would be great to have him back between Laine and Ehlers. He was the best centre fit for them so far.

Not a long term fix at center but Statsny contract is only for 1 more year and his chemistry with Laine and Ehlers was really good

I think they would be, might have to add more than a 3rd but its a starting point

The Jets shouldn't throw away any more assets on short term fixes, IMO. Winnipeg isn't making a Cup push now.

My long term thinking with this is that after this year Laine will be an RFA and if they cant sign him long term then they would look to trade him for a true 2C fix ( plus more) but I wouldn't mind them trying this for 1 year

Not a fan of retaining any of anyone’s salary with our cap situation but I could live with this. Probably make it a second and it’s a done deal

Why not?? This is the same offensive core as a couple years ago when they went to the conference finals. They have the best goalie in the league and if they resign DeMelo and sign a 2nd pair LHD they’ll be a very good team. It makes no sense for them not to make a cup push

I think Scheifele and Laine's injuries this year make a lot of people forget how dominant of an offense they have when everyone is healthy, this is a core you go all in with.

Pass big time on giving Stastny back to Winnipeg for a 3rd. And retaining on him to boot? Nah.

Think of it as freeing up 5.5 M to sign Lehner. You want to keep statsny at 6.5M that bad ?

He's fine for 1 more year. Fleury is gone if Lehner is back, so that's where the cap will come from.

Does glass not get an opportunity to plug in the top 6?

Yes. Stastny can play 3C next year and Roy drops to the 4th line again.
