  1. Andersen, Frederik
Additional Details:
Leafs save $3m in this trade, and can allocated some of that to upgrade Campbell as well and run with a fairly cheap 1A/1B tandem.

Colorado have capspace and adding Andersen would safeguard against Grubauer's groin injury recurring again next year by having another proven starter, with Grubauer+Andersen costing a combined $8.33m against the cap ($4.33 in real dollars).

Maybe Colorado adds a bit, but it probably wouldn't be a huge amount given the cap difference and the fact that Andersen is a pending UFA.

Yeah Andersen’s not close to a top 10 goalie but he’s better than a decent backup c’mon now

Yeah leafs say no, lol just made a AGM Andersen for grubauer. It's poor asset management to trade him for a middle tier goalie and nothing else. Andersen definitely brings more of a return

Guys, I said pretty clearly in the trade description that Colorado should add:

"Maybe Colorado adds a bit, but it probably wouldn't be a huge amount given the cap difference and the fact that Andersen is a pending UFA."

Discussions in other trades suggest that Francouz's value is a 2nd rounder (Montreal fans today like @SevenLeg were ok with STL 2020 2nd for Francouz for example). How much more than a 2nd round pick do you think a pending UFA goalie is worth?

Again, I do think Andersen is worth more than Francouz, but not by a huge amount. Do feel free to suggest what the add should be though instead of just scoffing. This is just a friendly discussion based on a hypothetical idea after all. smile

This is getting pretty dragged through the mud, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that this isn't as bad as some of the comments are reflecting.

Do I think the Leafs do it? No. There's not enough value coming to the Leafs (which you did mention), imo, but mainly the issue for me is the lack of NHL track record with Francouz. I wouldn't mind the Leafs going tandem with their goaltending, but Francouz and Campbell have played a combined 106 NHL games. There is just too much potential there for the Leafs to find themselves up **** creek without a paddle.

Having said that, it sure would be nice if the Leafs could have a solid tandem for $3.675m for the next two years, and I think you recognized that and tried to make something work.

If francouz is worth a 2nd Andersen is worth a first and a pretty good prospect.

Thing is, Francouz has been statistically better than Andersen this year and is signed to a ridiculously good contract and the latter is a pending UFA.

He's only played 36 games it's hard to use his stats against one of the top 3 busiest goalies in the league for the past 4 years and he has 1 more year than Freddie

I'm assuming you're thinking the leafs managment has not seen the series bs the stars? Where Francouz literally lost his job to Hutchinson and couldn't stop a beach ball? Lol. Francouz has negative value now btw.

He hurt his hand In game 2 which is why he can’t play right now, he has battling an Injury the whole series.

Ah, I see. His hand was the reason he had a sub .900 save percentage and 3 + goals against. He looked brutal all 6 games. Get real bud. He has no value. At best an average backup

He was having issues covering the puck bc you guessed it, an injury. He only started 3 games in this series

You really are not very bright and at this point you’re just a sad pathetic troll

In the trade description I mentioned this: "Leafs save $3m in this trade, and can allocated some of that to upgrade Campbell as well and run with a fairly cheap 1A/1B tandem."

As you can see my point is that the cap savings from Andersen to Francouz can be used to upgrade Campbell as well to a better goalie. For example, you could acquire Kuemper in a separate trade and go with Kuemper/Francouz which is a cheaper and better tandem than Andersen/Campbell, and also signed for a year longer.

He had 3 bad games, that's it. In the round robin he had a 30 save shutout. Sometimes goalies have bad games, it just so happened that he had bad games while playing partially injured against a team that has been gooning it up big time in his crease with the refs swallowing their whistles.

COL adds Zadorov to Francouz for Andersen

Zadorov was the 1st star of the night tonight against Dallas. He had his best game of the playoffs, and has actually bee one of our best and most steady Dmen in the playoffs overall. Loved his game today, and it's making me rethink whether we should move on from him.

That plan seems to be adding extra steps and probably spending extra assets to get to a pretty similar destination.
