Wings pass, absolutely no incentive to do move down 40 picks to add in a 7th

I like the Domi and Drouin part of the deal, but unless Bergevin had a line on someone better than Hutton, I'd be loath to do that trade. I also think Buffalo can't really afford the $15M or so in salaries that come in the 3 players from Montreal. Granted, you're knocking off $5.4M in Risto, but that's still nearly $10M in new spending and Buffalo still has to sign Reinhart.

That said, I think Risto would be great in Montreal as he's capable on both sides, and I like what I've seen of Mittelstadt. Happy to keep working toward a deal, but this isn't it quite yet.

We did not acquire Allen to move him, let alone for such a ***** offer like this! We are not giving up the 3 best pieces in a trade to get Risto who doesn't make our roster, Hutton who doesn't make our roster and Middlestat.

Reinhart is signed for 6 years in this deal

The point of Hutton is that MTL isnt spending 15 mil on goalies. Domi does not want to be in MTL anymore why hold onto him when you can get 3 picks, a reliable backup for Price who is paid under 3 mil, a prospect who still has potential and who i think has top 6 talent, plus a solid dman who can run the PP and is still only 25 years old.

My thought process was Hutton and a 5th for Allen, Mittelstadt and a 2nd for Domi, then Risto and a 4th for Drouin. MTL is in a stand still. The players they have now are not gonna get them to the playoffs. I understand these guys are not going to either but you have all these picks that can be used in trades. I think this is more than fair for both teams. Plus MTL sheds about $15 mil in cap.

MTL already have about $16M in projected cap space for next season.

Having an overpaid but good backup really isn't an issue. Having to play Price for 70 games during the season because they didn't trust the backup was the problem.

They just solved that by trading for Allen but you think they should instead get one of the worst goalies in the league to save just $2M ?

I’m not sure moving Faksa is a good idea any more tbh. He’s been a big part of a very successful second PP unit. I keep wondering what he’d look like with better wingers 5v5 as well. We’re def stacked down the middle and the trade is reasonable tho

None of these players have to be moved so the thing is this, a divisional rival who we will have to compete for a playoff spot against will have to overpay if they want any one of them let alone all 3. For all 3 8th OVA + Ristolainen + Kahun/Cozens + 3rd would likely be the price.

Domi = 8th OVA
Droun = Risto + 3rd
Allen = Kahun or Cozens

again all of the prices are higher simply because we would have to then beat an improved Buffalo team for a playoff spot and we do not have to move any of them.

So you just got Jake Allen for a 3rd pretty much and he's worth a top 5 prospect in the NHL now?

He could have gone for a 2nd + 3rd had they not been strapped for cap space. Plus to a division rival who we would have to beat to earn a Playoff spot absolutely. If you wanted him your GM should have traded for him first!

What is that Wing's trade? They is zero chance a team moves down for a 7th. That is like trading down to get nothing.
