My thoughts on this are that Markstrom will start with a 6, Gus probably makes a bit less on a 1-3 year bridge deal (2x2.5 or smth prob), Galch is NOT worth more than 1 year at 1 mil. Everything else looks within +/- 15% or so, so I don’t have any comments

Skinner was a huge risk. A weak team paid the guy who scored 40 goals. And Ben was a beast until recently

last 4 years:
53pts in 72 games
93 pts in 76 games
37pts in 33 games (small sample size but NJ isnt a very strong offensive team anyways)
52pts in 65 games

Average of 79pts/82 games last 4 years with NJ. Who else has NJ had the last 4 years for him to play with and put a ton of pts?
I agree he cant carry a team but he can absolutely be the 3rd best player on a team behind say Eichel and Dahlin.

I agree he a good player. But your going to give your third best player 7x9. That’s getting into leafs territory. He reminds me a bit of gaudreau. Some good years and some down years. He isn’t your best player but 2 or 3. That contract should only be for number 1 players

In this flat cap for 2 years era, I am not sure we will see this kind of term. I bet after the first handful of free agents get decent contracts. (Pietrangelo, Hall, Krug and a handful of others) the market will slow right down. There isn't a lot of teams who I bet will be a) able to offer big money and b) want to offer that much term. There is economic uncertainty due to the pandemic, there is a flat cap, and there is an expansion draft next year. Giving an older player cap and term will mean they can't protect someone else.

If I was a GM, I'd wait until a couple of days after the big rush. Bargains may start presenting themselves. From a players standpoint, I am sure some will want security but others may get squeezed and then look at short term deals in hopes of building value and cash in later on.
