-Hornqvist is an aging, declining asset that doesn't fit Anaheim's timeline, so what's the point of taking him?
-Bjugstad has a total of 28 points over the past 77 games, and is coming off a 13 game season. He's also making $4.1 mil (With a $5.2 mil payout). If ever there were a cap dump...

Bjugstad could be a deadline flip to a team that needs a depth right handed center. Good gamble and can flip for a 3rd or 4th.

They can flip Andersen for a replacement. Can't keep same core-- yes Hyman is a core player-- if its not working. Lafferty can be a cheaper version of Hyman, just subtract the goal scoring touch, which he can grow.

If Anderson is healthy, he's the better player, there's no way they move him while giving higher the higher pick, especially if he's willing to take that money, double especially trading a super physical player like him to a division rival.

You don't gamble $5.2 mil for a guy who's played a full season once in 8 years, especially when you know the other team needs to dump him to make room. Taking on that kind of salary obligation doesn't seem very "Melnyk".

I like going after Anderson and Hyman. I'd be surprised if the Leafs let Hyman go though.

I think Huala is an ideal 3C option for the Pens but he is getting $4-4.5M per year on his contract.

The Hornquist thing though I don't get. I can't see either team going for it. Hornquist is still a really good player, not a cap dump but Anaheim is looking to re-tool and I can't see them taking on an aging RW.

Exactly. Hard to imagine too many other contenders with enough space to take him in the first place though. Still useful, but probably more valuable to Pitt than anyone else.
