NJD Fleury Boychuk

Created by: FireShero
Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 24, 2020
Published: Sep. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Islanders get out from Boychuk's contract and get a 7th Dman in Carrick. Devils get Wilde/ Soderstrom (not sure about Soderstrom's value) for taking on Boychuk's contract

VGK get $8,000,000 in cap space to resign Lehner/ others. Fleury likely gets 30-35 starts and has known Fitzgerald from his time in PIT.

BOS gets a cheap version of Krug, Butcher isn't as good as Krug but plays a similar game for less. Devils get a good prospect and a reclamation project.

What did you do with Schneider?

You'll still have holes in the Top-9 - I doubt Rossi and Bastian make the roster.

Boston trade is kinda bad for NJ tbh Senyshyn is a bust and Frederic could be interesting but youre giving up a good young top4 defenseman, imo you can get more than that

man i love rating prospects as "busts" kids turning 23. he was looking good before a bad knee injury messed up his year. similar to bjork with his shoulder 2 years running. idk man Butcher might be good but the bruins have plenty of LEFT shot d never mind grz can easily take krugs spot.

I am not entirely sure they could. Butcher is kind of redundant here. Him, Subban, Ty Smith all seem like the same-ish player right now. If Butcher is just a small, offensive-minded third pairing guy he is sort of clogging things up.

I think the Isles have to take that. You could probably get more out of us tbh

I think you're thinking of Sorokin. Soderstrom is headed back to Europe next season and has seen his stock drop quite a bit since he was drafted.

Buyout.

Also yeah top 9 is weak but I don't think the Devils have much of a chance to even make the playoffs next year. I see it as a chance for younger players to get a shot, basically give Rossi/ Bastian/ Boqvist/ Anderson/ Kuokkanen/ Merkley/ maybe even Foote/ Mcleod all a chance and see which ones can play at the NHL level.

I think Rossi could make the team since he has shown he is too good for the OHL (120 points in 56 games)

Yep, I see Smith taking Butcher's spot this year. I think Butcher has more value/ potential than Mueller, but Mueller will hit, block shots, and kill penalties. Really don't want to see PK killing penalties this season too.

Unless NYI offers Dobson or Beauvillier, NJD should avoid Boychuk deal. Maybe Wahlstom, Wilde or similar prospect if NYI retains half.
