Is the value on the Willy trade fair

Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2020
Published: Sep. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Instead of taking a shorter and highr AAV deal, Soderberg takes a longer deal with less money

-arguably better G locked up for quite come time
-better D locked up for, again, quite some time. Savard's extension is signed after the ED so that TOR doesn't have to protect him
-more experience, with Maroon
-Nylander's 30 ish goals are replaced by Soderberg and Maroon

No.

Let’s be optimistic and say a rental on Savard is worth a 1st and Anderson is worth a 3rd.

That’s a 1st 2nd and 3rd for nylander and no cap relief.

A deal like that (again, remember the ED thing) would HAVE to come with the confirmation that Savard resigns. Cause you aren't moving Nylander for a 1-2 year rental, that's for sure.

So basically, before the deal's made, Dubas talks to DS's agent about the contract that will kick in right after the ED. The contract is announced right after it so that he doesn't need protection.

Anderson is worth way more than a third. I could easily see a team like the Flames giving up 2 2nds or a 2021 1st for him .

Right. I know he was injured but the guy scored 27 last year.

And his (long term) injury was a shoulder one, those things heal

No, his next contract will be a gong show. He has 1 controllable year left. So you can’t really even sign him to a show me deal. He has had 1 good season.... and it wasn’t last year. Not worth the money he is looking for and not worth the risk. Columbus is better off keeping him to see if he rebounds.

1-yes he was last year, in 18-19, we're still in the 19-20 season
2-he also had a very strong 17-18 season

He is worth more to Columbus than to other teams in a trade. If you think he will rebound you don’t sell low.

Yes he was vey productive with Panarin and PLD....

So the word is he is demanding 3m... what term do you sign him to?

3m x 4 and he continues to sputter and you wasted two 2nds on a bad contract?

I think Jackets take that offer and run with it. Cheechoo was beloved in SJ like Anderson is in CLB, but sometimes just gotta go with the better move.

If these moves happened, they'd want a bit of room, cap space wise so Maroon is probably a no go.

Yeah, that's an overpay for Walker, but I'd do it for Roy.

Sorry, there are guarantees as you suggest. Certainly Columbus isn't going to tell a valuable member of their team, they want to trade him, but he has to sign a contract before.
If I'm the agent, and even if talks with Dubas....and the trade is made, Savard has the Leafs over a barrel, he could hold out for a LOT more, cause of the lopsided trade.
So, as I have suggested many times on CapFriendly. "Can't think of a good trade...then add the nonsensical extension"
