I don't know. I think if you can get a guy like Saad for a short guy who doesn't want to play wing for your team, you're coming out ahead.

I've seen Domi for Saad like ten different times today lol and have no idea where it's coming from. Any substance to the rumors?

As for the trade itself, I'm really high on Beaudin, would not want to move him unless we're getting a prospect of equal status back (i.e. someone better than Juulsen).

EDIT: Also, we have our own underperforming 2C RFA to re-sign this offseason, so I don't see where Domi fits unless we trade Strome or bump Domi to the wing

Saad was injured part of this current season and only played 58 games to Domi's 71. Saad was on pace for 30 goals and 47 points. Domi was on pace for 20 goals and 50 points. Domi had one breakout year last year. Saad had a big down year 2 years ago and was rumored he was injured.

Career Stats:
Domi = .45 ppg/.21 gpg
Saad = .59ppg/.29 gpg

As far as production on the ice, Saad has the edge and Saad is a top 20 2 way winger in the game, very complete player. Domi isn't too shabby himself though. Domi is 2 1/2 years younger and a RFA versus Saad being a 1 year UFA so that is in Domi's favor for sure.

Yes but pts for pts... Domi= 45,72,44pts vs 35,47,33 for Saad... That's where Beaudin comes in to be a more fair deal.
and Domi is better than Strome who did 57, 38pts last 2 seasons

I read all that has been said, but would Domi play the wing with Toews or Dach? With the addition of Beaudoin MTL would still have to add CHI 2nd.

Just because another player is a better fit, doesn't mean Montreal should give up value. If Domi gets traded, Bergevin finds value. There are other players around the league that are also a better fit on Montreal than Domi, we can trade for one of them if we don't get value here.

I don’t think acquiring Domi is smart for the Hawks. If they’re going to acquire a winger for their top 6, they need someone that can make a significant impact defensively. Even though he’s a good player, that’s not Domi. The Hawks can score, their issue is that they can’t defend.

Value wise Domi for Saad straight up is fair. I don't know if it fits needs for either team though.
