How to keep Pietrangelo

Created by: Willian_Cardoso
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2020
Published: Sep. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Allen's trade gave St. Louis a chance to keep Pietrangelo. They'll have to buy Steen's terrible contract out and then trade Sanford or Blais. I'd trade Sanford, cause I think Blais have more upside.

Kings are flush with picks...surely they can spare more than 3rd/5th, no?

I wonder if the Blues could finagle him into 8 x $8.5 if he really wants to stay (which I assume he does because he said that, but maybe not, but really, who knows until the contract is signed).

Regardless, given that Tarasenko will be on LTIR to start the season, they'd probably be fine to keep whoever after a Steen buyout.

Also, I think (but I could be wrong) that conditional draft picks are no longer a thing.

I think a 3rd plus a 5th would be fair to get Sanford. Maybe 3rd plus 4th or a late 2nd. But that's it, cause he had just one good season in his career.

The helps sign Petro but what about dunn. Sanford was great for the blues last year, idk if he gets moved with how cheap he is and what he provides for them. Theres also like no point in buying anyone out steen when his cap hit is still gonna be like 4 million for 2 years.

9M or 8.5 it's almost the same. It'll be something like that to stay in St. Louis. I still think they should buy Steen's contract out, cause almost 6M to terrible offensive producer is insane to a team which have to re-sign probably their most important player and don't have much cap space.

So I guess you just let Bin go in free agency since you literally have n9 cap space to sign him

Oops! I forgot about Dunn Lol. Let me find out a solution to this new puzzle. As for Sanford, I'm sure trade him to get a chance to re-sign Pietrangelo it's a no-brainer decision.

nah i think they just move bozak. blues have way more centres readily avaliable to play bottom 6 than goal scoring powerforwards on a 1.5m deal.

It's my firts choice. But I didn't find ANY team to trade for him. He has a NMC/NTC. That's a terrible thing to find a team which he wants to waive the clauses.

Problem solved. I traded Gunnarsson to Pens to re-sign Dunn. My team would welcome a solid D-man like him for a great cost and benefit.

I would think some rebuilding team would take on steens contract for a mid pick. Ideally, Id like to improve our left side. Find a way to move faulk for a solid left winger. Maybe krieder?

Wow! You're so optimistic thinking Steen's contract worth a mid pick. St. Louis should be cheering to dump him for a 6th or 7th with no retaining. Besides, I don't think Steen would waive his NTC to be traded to teams like Ottawa, Detroit or New Jersey. It's the same situation about Bozak. As for Faulk, St. Louis just re-signed him. So, no way to see him being traded right after re-sign, in my opinion. It's most reasonable to see Parayko being traded to improve left side. You must be realistic. Anyway, I don't think both will be traded next season. Probably, Parayko will be after next season.

Most of these trades have come down to leverage. Of the blues can make everything work from a cap perspective with buying Steen out, then you aren't getting a top pick. But why if you're another team lose out on grabbing a pick and if steens getting bought out it's no different for him. It's an opportunity for another team. As far as faulk goes, were stacked on the right and we're potentially losing him in the draft anyways. Might as well move him now for a team that could use an upgrade at rd and we get a left-wing out of it

No more “if the player resigns” conditions on picks according to this once the CBA was ratified apparently.

Well, I don't like this specific change. In fact, I think the teams should have absolute freedom to negotiate with each other. If both teams agree with the terms of the trade, so that's ok to me. I don't like trade restrictions imposed by the league. I know NHL negotiate all this stuffs with NHLPA, but anyway, I don't like restrictions imposed. We'll see...
