I can't see any way Columbus makes this deal. Also, Tampa would find a way to make space for Cirelli if he signs an offer sheet for only 4 mil.

As a secondary Avs fan though, this team makes me nut

Yeah it was Cernak not Cirelli I had them sign and I think TBL would be hard pressed to match $4M for Cernack.

Not a whole lot... Columbus needs a 2nd line center so (and I hate to say it as I’ve never been a fan of his but) Kadri is about the only thing we’d want from Colorado. We don’t really want futures. Yes I know that would never happen.

This happy

The only way Columbus moves a goalie this offseason is for immediate offensive help. Elvis is exempt from the draft and both are on great deals for the next 2 seasons. I like Jost, but they'd need something else. I should've said this in my original comment, but I don't think the value is really bad here. The return just doesn't fit what Columbus would want if they move Elvis or Korpi this offseason. It's gotta have some kind of scoring help for this seaosn.

Fair enough, but food for thought CBJ is very likely to lose one of them in the expansion draft unless they play the here is this asset for not taking them. Does that nudge the needle at all? Or is Elvis exempt?

And you’re wrong! Merzlinkis is exempt from the expansion draft.....so it doesn’t move the needle at all.

That's quantity over quality. Gonna need more than that for Elvis.

I think Columbus would entertain the idea of moving one of Korpisalo/Elvis as they also have Kivlenieks and Vehvilainen in the pipeline, but they'll want a 2C or a scoring forward in return for sure.

We're not going to move Kadri so that's a non-starter, and beyond that the only obvious name is Burakovsky.

Perhaps something based around Elvis + Anderson for Burakovsky could work, with Colorado perhaps adding a pick/prospect.

What do you guys make of the idea above? I.e. a trade around Elvis + Anderson for Burakovsky.

I toyed with that, but then they are looking for a 2nd line winger.

Probably not... we need this thing called a center... Bura is good, just not a center. We don’t really need wings.

But if you include him in the trade you’re out a 2nd line winger again is what I mean. It’s why the Avs off season shouldn’t be complicated. Use cap space to sign say Toffoli, sign the RFA’s and look and see what one of the dmen fetch in trade.

Ah sorry I misread your comment.

I read "I toyed with that, but then they (Columbus) are looking for a 2nd line winger." instead of I toyed with that, but then they (Sakic/Avs) are looking for a 2nd line winger."

I agree we should just keep Burakovsky. He's shown this season that he's legit. The dude is clutch too, 9 goals in 9 elimination games, including 4 in 6 game 7's.

I'm kinda bracing for what Bura's contract will look like. He could justifiably ask for around $6m after the season he just had. Hopefully we can lock him in for $5m though.

I like Burakovsky a TON, but I see 2 issues with this:
a) If Anderson is healthy, he's only a marginal improvement, at a fairly higher price
b) Columbus needs center a lot more than wing.
*PLD will center Texier and Bjorkstrand, then they need to find someone to center Aktinson and I would guess Nyquist (though it could he someone else)

Yeah I don't really see us as great trading partners. Unless we send you our 2020 1st (#24) or something like that. Would you be open to something around Elvis for #24 (add as needed)?

Nah, I can't see it. That'd still have the issue of not getting offensive help back in a goalie trade.

#24 can probably help you get back someone like Rakell. You could even package it with your own 1st and make big things happen.
