They might. They need a goalie pretty badly.

Both Kreider and Couture will age poorly but at least it's a position NYR need. 6.5M for Kreider on the 3rd line is way too much.

Yep. I see them signing Greiss personally but not opposed to this

What would it take? Carolina's 1st would be the max imo

    Rangers 1st or Carolinas 1st and 2021 Buffalo 3rd.

And even then I highly doubt we make the deal because we have no centre depth. We only have 3 proven nhl centre's signed (Cooch, Hertl, Kellman, and kellman is a 3C max)

Interesting. I kinda like the idea to be completely honest, but Kreider isn't exactly what the doctor ordered to help us contend again. Especially at that cap hit and term. It's not like Couture is much better in that aspect either but he's clearly the better the player between the two. Honestly the CAR 1st replacing the 2021 2nd would indefinitely get it done in my opinion no questions asked. We would probably be willing to send something else back as well to get said 1st.

The problem is this completely destroys all our center depth, so that's not so great. But I'd still probably do it.

No to Georgiev the sharks have 3 top goalie prospects that will be ready in 1-2 years so we need a stop gap not a up and comer. And our offense stinks losing one of our top pieces and our captain would only happen if we admit we need a rebuild ( which management won’t do)

In terms of value, that is more than fair. Just doesn't make sense for SJ though. Counter productive IMO. Their weakness will no longer be goalie it will be center.

If the Sharks trade Couture, it doesn't make sense to get an older asset like Kreider back. Trading Couture would be signaling the rebuild.

I'd expect something like Chytil and Carolina's first as the starting point.

Or at least not at that price. We could take him for a buyout, but it would cost more. The Rangers have a stacked prospect pool they can comfortably lose some better picks without breaking a sweat

Melnichuyk is our new kid from KHL that looks legit Korenar is strong but had a down year and Edmonds is 3 years out but has looked really solid.
Sharks are very high on Korenar and Melnichuyk And so are scouts
